We shall dub it the Shawshank model

OK ...... OCD kicking in  :(  :o

Didn't he escape using a geologist's hammer - not a file  ???

Still love the name though  :tu:

This is true. But I couldn't think of any other good prison title to go with the file, lol. Perhaps the "Alcatraz" would work too

I was going to run those next, but I was almost out of Ti scales for 91s, so I really needed those more.  I'm doing the marlin spikes next for sure.  Its just a pricey job since the hunk of steel I bought is large, so its going to be about $700 for cut cost, but that will give me about 200 spikes.

Lots of parts!  :D

111 Ti scales, mostly 91s, some 84s, and 2 new types of wrench scales that thankfully work much much better than last design.

It's really amazing to see the endless configurations that poeple  want. Great job Syph. :hatsoff: What is your process for official orders?

Yes, the funny this is, if it was up to me I would probably only build a few configurations.  But Ive found that people really have different ideas about what a tool should have for them.  So being flexible and providing as many options as possible is the main reason I think I still get alot of orders.

If you want a quote on something just shoot me a PM or email.  I keep a list of orders and work on them in order.  Im not running too far behind any more, probably 2-3 week lead time as long as Ive got the parts in stock.  The nice thing about mostly doing Ti work is that it's easier for me to keep a stock of scales, and for donor SAKs I keep checking amazon or other places and order a bunch of donors when they go on sale.

I think the brass mag holders will work out nice, but the cost per part is creeping up and I haven't added the labor yet to do the finish work and tap for set screw.  I only got 19 out of 6 square inches of brass.  The cost for the brass + waterjet puts me at 9 bucks per part so far.   Im going to finish one up in the morning and figure out how much labor is involved for finish work.  The pieces are 0.125" thick and I have to shave them down to 0.110", then sand and polish and tap a 2-56 hole in there.

Not that we use the current plastic frames as prybars, but the sturdiness afforded by the brass, combined with the ability to replace the lens, will personally add a level of confidence in it's use that the plastic just doesn't give. Plus, the cool factor is just off the chart...   :D

Dangerous, I thought the one of your Ti models I got would be that "last knife I ever need"; but with the possibility of a brass lens- I'm weakening again.

Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum!

I'm working on the brass mag holders today.  So far so good.  I dont have an allen key small enough for the set screws I bought though, so I have to go hunting for smaller ones now.

I need a 0.035" wide hex key, which is smaller than all the local stores carry, so I had to order a precision set off amazon.  Another thing I have to wait for.. but at least I have everything else I need and I just test fit the lens and its perfect.

I know you like quality stuff so I highly suggest getting the Wiha brand. I have both sets and they are amazing.

I believe they sell them at Home Depot. If you cannot find those Bondhus is the next best in my opinion. They can also be found at Home Depot.

The Wiha metric set has one size under what you need as well. Goes down to 0.028.  :tu:

I know you already ordered a different set, but just in case.

I checked lowes and home depot but they didnt have sets that went small enough.  I might just go see if I can mill/grind a tiny drill bit or something to see if I can make a good nuff one for now just so I can get one finished.

Im sure more then a few people would go for a steampunk yeoman/explorer or similar.  :D

Success!!

I just ground a small bit I had to make do, and it worked ok to turn the set screw.  I love this solution.  The only thing I would add now is a tiny bit of rubber or similar in the hole so the screw isnt pushing on the glass directly but pushing a small plug of plastic or rubber.

Now of course I have to test is on an actual SAK, but Im optimistic it will work out just fine.
