I almost got the stand finished tonight and now Im trying to decide the exact location to leave it.  Its a couple hundred pounds so I dont want to keep moving it around.  I loctited every screw so nothing should rattle loose.  Im debating anchoring it to the wall as well, as the more rigidity the better.

Oh well, hopefully Ill have more progress tomorrow.  I made a G code happy face so I can cut that once I get the thing together as a test.  :D

Finished the stand this morning.  The only issue I had was a couple of stripped threads in the sheet metal, so I just put nuts on the backs of those screws and that worked fine.

Loving the unboxing/setup pics!

I don't need the pen, but I would love to have the toothpick and tweezers in the titanium scale for the next custom SAK.

Got the mill moved into the right room... now to get it lifted up.  How hard could that be...  :D

Have you considered suspending the mill from the rafters and then move the stand in under it? Lifting it straight up is sure to be much easier than actually moving it in position while it's  hanging.

A little over 400lbs.

To get my other mill on its stand I took it apart.  The head and stock and table and all of it.  It wasnt CNCd though and was pretty basic.  No way in hell im taking this sucker apart though.

The floor joints should hold 400 lbs ok if I spring the weight out across say 4 of them.  I still remember how to rig an anchor to use uneven tie in points but equally distribulte the load, so that is that I plan on doing.... tomorrow.  :D

This is where one of those cherry engine hoists would come in handy! Provided there's enough head room..

Just 400?

Ok Im going to pick up a chain hoist.  This should work fine I think and its the cheapest thing I can find local to do the job.

The link doesn't work but if there is a harbor freight near you they may have one cheap. I don't know how close you are to the U.S. Border or if they have them in Canada.

Canadian tire had a chain hoist for 60 bucks and a 1/2 ton is plenty.  :D

Nice to see the progress! I would have recommended holding some wooden lips with a couple of clamps but you got it on in the end so it's a bit late now.

Ya if I didnt already have the mill in the air I would have made some wood squares to do the job, but its done now at least!

It fits well in the space I cleared for it too.
