Syph, have you considered doing the corkscrew eyeglass screwdriver handle milled from a nice wood, but same design as the Vic one? Would seem like a simple and quite elegant solution, or is there a flaw in this idea (other than it would only work for SAKs with the corkscrew)?

Would look a damn site better than the Vic grey plastic one on your beautiful designs.

Or natural black rubber, maybe.

The difficulty with wood is that somewhere you are going to have a very narrow section with the grain running across it, which will likely be too weak.  Possible with lignum vitae or jarrah perhaps.

How about stabilized wood? Woulnd't that help a whole deal?

Sounds good! Wood corkscrew screwdrivers would be classy! :-)

Something like this perhaps (BTW it's on sale at the moment...): http://burlsource.us/p105-figured-hawaiian-koa-stabilized-pen-turning-blocks-3-pieces/

or this: http://burlsource.us/p101-monkey-pod-hawaiian-koa-stabilized-pen-turning-blocks-3-pieces/

This one isn't on sale, but is lovely:

Think it's usually used for knife handles...

I was just wondering, for Syph's tumbled titanium scales that have the copper cross, does the latter go green with verdigris after some time or does the tumbling somehow slow done that process?

I doubt the tumbling process would affect oxidation - you are still going to get that verdigris.  I've been carrying one of Bob's works of art with tumbled scales and copper cross for almost a year now with no sign of oxidation on the copper.  I use it every day though - it might be different if the knife were sitting in a drawer.

The copper sheet I cut it from has Been in my shop for 4 years and looks dull but not green.  Doesn't it have to be wet to turn green?

Wet or in a brine solution. I did some copper with a patina on it and it turned blue/green. I'll try to dig up a photo and message you on how I did it if you like.

Its not too many times I get to show a new configuration... but here it one.  First time ever, have I done this one.  Both phillips and corkscrew on the back of a SAK with only one scale cutout. ( I did this once ages ago with 2 scale cutouts).

As you can see there was just barely enough space and the phillips needed to take the space under the saw layer too, so I had to put a little stub piece in there to tension the saw spring.

Very deftly done! Not quite my cup of tea TBH, but that's certainly one way to get both CS and Phillips!

Now that one I like! Good options. Any chance you've looked into DLC or cerakote as another option. I've heard cerakote holds up great on Ti

Nice... what's the grain/texture on the shield nearest to camera?
