What I meant is which blade goes on the side where the main blade was supposed to be.

I finally found a source for nickel silver thick enough make a mag glass frame out of.  I needed an option for people wanting a silver looking holder and Ti really doesnt make for a good option do to the sticky action.

Never heard of it before but looks magnificent.

Its basically pattern welded Titanium.  Only sold through alpha knife supply as they have the patent on the process.  Ive seen it used by other knife makers for scales but never seen it in person until now.

Now it sounds even more expensive...

I honesty hope you'll build at least one set of scales with this. Even though that's easy for me to say, not having any funds in it...

My plan is to make 4 front scales not sure it it will be pioneer size or standard 91.  Probably 93 since this material is thick enough for the drawer option and that I do on front scales for pioneers.  Im still deciding how to cut it up.  I might hand cut a small cross from the corner to start off with and do a cross insert.  Then I can see about heat anodizing.

AKS says the electro methods of anodizing on this material dont work as nice as heat anodizing.  Not sure if heat is just heat or needs to be flame.  If I could put it in an oven to anodize that would be nice, but not sure of what temp.  So lots of playing and testing to see what works.  :D

Forgot to post my single layer mod from last week.  Only catch was the phillips lugs hit the scale and prevented it from closing completely.  So I machined out some clearance pockets and it was good to go.

What a monster !     :o     And very spectacular  :tu:

Syph - Any idea from your client if this is a user or a display piece

This is one of those "can deal with any situation" SAKs - But you need a wheelbarrow/circuit training to carry it  ;)

I think he plans to carry it. He was shopping for a sheath to fit it.

^^^ Excellent   - Good on him    :tu:

I suppose it would be crazy not to carry - Given that it is a custom personalised SAK

I guess the XAVT sheath would be too wide - With the thicker scales and two extra fat tool layers over your creation
Maybe the XLT sheath would work if you stretch it a bit!! ..... Especially as you have saved on liner & scale width ?  ???

I love when people actually carry their prized possessions. Sometimes it’s hard though. I look at my pieces and fear damaging them of course. I guess that’s why I buy two of everything lol.
I love modded SAKs and have been collecting knives since I was a boy. The magnifying glass always made me feel special as a kid, like MacGyver. Now I need it to see, go figure!

...and now I will have this stuck in my ears until I get the chance to play this really old CD.  :twak:

BTW: Very nice looking material!
I have not been in the loop, so I´ll have to look up the drawer scales and am interested to know if these bit holder / wrench scales are still made.

Awesome!

 :o :o

Instead of a bunch of crosses, could you get enough for an OPT or a simple dangler clip?
