Question about c33Tx Black
on: February 01, 2012, 03:34:13 AM
Does anyone own a black LM knife?
I need to know whether or not it's normal to have one without the name "LEATHERMAN" on the blade.
I just bought a Crater c33Tx Black, and the blade doesn't feature the Leatherman name.... only the pocket clip does, and the handle has the usual LM tool symbol.
Can anyone help me with this???

Adam,
I have a C55Bx Black.  It has the Leatherman name, and the knife model right near the thumbstud.

That's weird.... mine is just blank.... the blade has no writing at all.

Adam,
Looking at the Leatherman Library website, it looks like it should have a name on the blade.
Here is the pic I referred to:

You said that your c55Bx has the name AND model shown on the blade..... check the pic of the c55Bx on the LM site.... notice the pic doesn't show the model name.... maybe it's just a timeline thing???

Interesting, on my C55Bx it does have both the Leatherman Name and Model, and they are in a beige color, not black-on-black.  Could just be a timeline thing as you suggest, I have no idea.

I just gave mine a pretty good going-over and can't find a date code anywhere.

Yeah, me neither.
I guess we'll just have to wait for the official answer from Juli.
I already posted the question on the FB page, so she'll get back to me on it.
Whatever her answer is, I'll let you know if you don't see it first ;)

Hey, Russ... I got an answer from LM. They said,

"Hey Adam, you are correct it is a timeline thing. The earlier black knives didn't have lasering in the routing. Current knives have logo and model #. Hope this helps. Thanks"
