Ash you might know more than me on this, but my understanding was Rat were the older models made by Ontario knives, and they got inconsistent quality so they dumped Ontario as the manufacture and the newer ones no longer carry the Rat name. Same dimensions and all though.

Same dimensions and all though. The reason I ask is I have a Rat 3 and was thinking of upgrading to something bigger. Didn't know if I should try to find a Rat or ESEE?
Rat released their name to Ontario for 5 years. People were confusing Ontario rat knives with Rat knives so Jeff and team decided to change their rat name to esee.
Does it say RC3 or RAT3? Thanks Ash
That is a esee!
After they dropped Ontario, ESEE continued making "RAT" knives with RC model numbers. If it says Rowen on the blade, it was obviously not made by Ontario. As long as this is the case, the knife is for all intents and purposes an ESEE and is covered by their absolute lifetime warranty. Actually it may be covered even if it was made by Ontario, but I'm not sure.
