The stupid thing is, if it weren't for the content creators (ie big ass media companies) insisting on unreal licensing fees, I, and lots of other people wouldn't have to "illegally" download them.  When I was in Las Vegas I was happy to see the greater variety of things on Netflix, and I'd be happy to pay a little bit more for Netflix each month if it had a larger catalogue.  But, since they insist on making more money for more licensing regions, they are restricting what Netflix here in Canada can offer, which means I "steal" the stuff using bit torrent.

Of course, in Canada it's legal to download content.  The law is only broken if you make the content available for upload, since that constitutes unlawful distribution of copyrighted materials.  By the current downloading laws in the US, theoretically you could also be charged for watching (or taping) something off the TV and/or radio.

That's what I'd say anyway, if, you know, I had an opinion on the subject... :P

I couldnt agree more with your Def.  My friends who are heavily into netflix have to pay an extra 8 bucks a month to get a US proxy so they can see the full content.  Im not spending extra on it just cuz of rules that are for all intends and purposes, silly.

I don't see any point to paying an extra 8 bucks a month since technically that's illegal too- it's fraud.

Frankly I don't care- if the idiots in charge would be happy with 60% of something instead of 100% of nothing I'd probably watch everything legitimately.  As it is, there's really not much they can do since I don't upload stuff, and it's legal here to download things or watch streaming video.

Having said that, the same group that arrested a German national in New Zealand is probably readying themselves outside my window.   ::)

You are damned right Grant. In Norway Spotify is HUGE and I have a premium subscription that cost 10$ a month so I can use it on my phone and computer when I don’t have an internet connection. If you don’t know what Spotify is it’s a service that streams music http://www.spotify.com/us/

Why on earth would I want to pay 1$ for a song on iTunes when I can listen to millions of songs for 10$ a month, and the more I listen to one artist the more money they make.

I've been using thebox.bz for about 4 years now. It's great for finding those old BBC shows and they are fast with new uploads. Strictly TV though, and only from the UK. It's nice to know there is something similar around. Bookmarked. :tu:

As for other, there's still demonoid, strong as ever. :D
