I recently bought the same Wenger, without the Strellson logo, for 4 euros on ebay... it's a nice SAK for ripping open packaging and generally abusing, but I would hesitate to pay double digits for one.
I bought a much nicer Wenger with scissors and saw (basically a Huntsman) with the Strellson branding all over it for 15 Euros a year or two ago, brand new in a shiny tin. So I am pretty sure the Strellson logo doesn't make a cheap & cheerful pocketknife worth more than a brand new Victorinox Workchamp.

If the Wenger with the Strellson corporate logo can command a high price, each one in my small stash of these Wenger Commander with the Loctite corporate logo and Permatex trademark should be able to sell for a king's ransom!

With Loctite and Permatex on the scales, you can be guaranteed they will never, ever fall off, no matter what you do to the knife!! That feature must dramatically increase its value.

 :D

These are actually quite nice, albeit sans T&T, Wenger's version of the Victorinox Sportsman.

Am I missing something here?
These tourist Spartans (depicting various cities or sites) hover around the 20 euro mark, but this one is supposedly worth 80 bucks when you include shipping.

99 cents is not bad for that actually. I know that if I saw that at a car boot sale, I would buy it.  :pok:
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

6 hours and change left on this swissflame model and not a single bidder yet  :pok: I'd be tempted to have a go if the starting bid price was half of what the seller wants.

I will be curious to see if it ends up needing to get relisted.

Not $5000 crazy, but still ridiculous.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/T...t%3D8%26sd%3D142186711271

The watches are hand made, including all the component parts, with meticulous micro finishing work, and they're quite complex mechanically. Some of the cost isn't just the fabrication, it's the unique one-off design of the mechanical works. Don't underestimate the level of effort that requires. The branding then multiplies those costs to nearly another order of magnitude compared to the cost of actually designing and fabricating it. They are uniquely one-of-a-kind, extremely labor intensive to design and produce, and that can command a premium. There's no leveraging on the marginal cost of replication (i.e., the cost of making the second one once you've designed and made the first one). Nevertheless, the price for the watches is still paying quite a bit for the branding.

OTOH, a SAK imprinted with the same branding doesn't cost hardly any more to make than the same SAK without the branding. It's merely the cost of imprinting it, as with any corporate marketing and advertising SAK. By comparison, the Porsche Design Wenger were unique with special scales which made them unique, justifying a portion of the higher price. This SAK, however, is simply imprinted. I could get a truckload of Tinker or Spartan, imprint them with this, have some fancy presentation packaging made in China or Viet Nam, and then sell them for 10x what the non-imprinted one would sell for? It's one hell of a price for a hood ornament. I wonder how many counterfeits there are (or will be)! Sooooo easy to make!! With real SAKs too!!!

Maybe even crazier than the Richard Mille SAK . . . this "Malcolm in the Middle" knife!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/152327447647

Take a very, very close look at the (deliberately??) blurry photos! No tool deployment either. I wonder why!! Note the shipping cost and the seller takes no returns.

That's got to be the worst Chinese SAK copy I've ever seen.  Not worth $0.25 never mind $250.

http://www.2dehands.be/overig/overig/overige-artikels/zwitsers-zakmes-victorinox-319190004.html

States he bought it for €109.
But it actualy retails for 65-70, if it was the real thing.

Look at that mini screwdriver

Also states as "never been used"
yet a "METAL" inlay is half gone?!

Am I missing something or is it crazy that the bidding is so high for an unopened box that might just have a standard model?
