$ 40 for an empty box  :ahhh

https://www.ebay.com/itm/122950813166

Yes but it comes with a "free ship"

If it's one of these than it's not a bad deal.

You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

You guys!!!!!!  :D I just saw this post.  I'm happy to report that I wasn't the buyer of that box.  I do love boxes, but I prefer a box with the knife inside.  :D   :D

Just checked his other Victorinox knives and prices!?

https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=&ul_noapp=true&_ssn=sancat1&item=323383767796&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=victorinox&_sacat=0

Is there any reason to believe the three KL knives he has in that first listing are illegitimate or fake?  They look alright to me.

As for his prices, value is in the eye of the beholder.  But if he's selling fakes that's a different matter altogether.

Just trying to learn,

Myron

No reason to suspect him from selling fakes. I know this guy, bought from him a couple of times and sold to him a couple of times. I think (hope) he's simply misinformed about the Fosco KL95. His story in his ad doesn't apply to that particular Fosco KL95 he's selling (the Camillus-like one) but this one: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,18395.msg1631709.html#msg1631709

Thanks, glenfiddich.  I've bought from him in the past too and was very happy with both the product and the transaction.

After I told him his story applies to a different KL95 and that you could buy his type for just a few Euro on a couple of places on the web, he replied by suggesting we make a good business out of it

So don't be surprised if you see him selling more of these if he manages to sell this one for a good price...

Obviously i'm not going to follow up on his suggestion, because although I admit i'm not always the cheapest seller on the eBay, i'm NOT in the business of scamming  :wait:

Well, caveat emptor and do-your-own-homework and all that I guess applies here.

Although I myself wouldn't do this, the only thing that I think would actually be immoral is if he misrepresents it.  If he's just selling a 5 Euro knife for 200 Euro but not misrepresenting it, that's a buyer beware situation.

But that's the point, he is misrepresenting it. This is not a knife that was a prototype for the military and it is definitely not rare. The knife he is describing is the one showed below, not the one he's selling.

I was assuming he would change his description after you set him straight?   But apparently not, which is a shame.  Legitimate buyers and collectors like me don't like doing business with scammers, even if they also sell legitimate products.  He should rethink his business model here...

Seller has been listing this one for 6 months at $650, finally dropped the price to $550.

Been over a year since your post and seller still hopeful for $550.

Remindful of the guy standing on the street corner selling PENCILS for a $100 each...
when asked if the price isn't too high the guy says "maybe, but I only got to sell one"

Here's one more "crap-bay" ridiculously priced add, with "false" info, to add to the pile.....

"VG+ RETIRED 1980'S HTF COLLECTABLE VICTORINOX SPORTSMAN 84mm WITHOUT LANYARD"

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VG-RETIRED-1980S-HTF-COLLECTABLE-VICTORINOX-SPORTSMAN-84mm-WITHOUT-LANYARD/152466387968?epid=1703002645&hash=item237fb47400:g:A6oAAOSwTuJYwbok

all they need to do is add the word "collectable" and they think anybody goes for it...

Either the seller hasn't a clue of what the hell hs is talking about or he is just plain dishonest...

"Mid-80's Spostsman..."? Really...??  $57.79...??

With that (thinner) blade tang...? that awl...? that CS...?

That's unlikely a very late 90's if so, much more likely early 2000's as best... The only thing that may be less common is the lack of the key ring, but that model (even if less common) it's still being made today and on the catalogue.

So take the estimated market value, multiply by a factor of 10, and list it on fleaBay.

So take the estimated market value,
It is 2000$-2500$ (imo) so he is marking up 60%, not 1000% as you say.
Want to buy:
SwissChamp - 500 Mio
Huntsman - Eidgenossenschaft 700 Year Commemorative
Wenger - FASS 90 Grünig and Elmiger in Green scales

Needless to say i personaly would't give $100 for it, never mind $4500...
But if anybody want's to blow $4500 of it's hard earned money on a pocket knife (or if you're a millionaire...), and if it makes someone happy, by all means do...

$2000-2500???

I have seen one of these go for $1000, but I think the actual market value is less than half that, but good optimism Maxt!
