Nice Collection!  You're only missing a 4 and 5.  :pok:

I owned a 4 but it was too small for my hands (like a 3 finger knife for me) so I ended up selling it.  I'm interested in getting a 6 to replace it.  love the izula I still have though, it's my favorite neck knife.

4 and 5 will be added soon. I gave my roomy a few hints that I wanted the new green and orange ones. Will she listen though?  ::)

Can I ask, is there any difference between the Rat-3 and ESEE?  Same company no?  Just no longer call them Rat?
Thanks!

Ash you might know more than me on this, but my understanding was Rat were the older models made by Ontario knives, and they got inconsistent quality so they dumped Ontario as the manufacture and the newer ones no longer carry the Rat name.  Same dimensions and all though.

The reason I ask is I have a Rat 3 and was thinking of upgrading to something bigger.  Didn't know if I should try to find a Rat or ESEE?

ESEE is considered higher quality as far as I know.  Basically the same but the older RAT ones had a higher steel defect rate.

Rat released their name to Ontario for 5 years. People were confusing Ontario rat knives with Rat knives so Jeff and team decided to change their rat name to esee.

How would I know which one I have?  Rat rat, or Ontario Rat?
Thanks!

Ya the ESEE ones will say ROWEN on them.

From the website:

"Please note that ESEE Knives (Formerly RAT Cutlery Company) does not manufacture, sell or guarantee any knife that bears the following name: RAT-3, RAT-5, RAT-7, TAK, RTAK and Model 1 (folder). These knives were designed by Randall's Adventure & Training ® but are manufactured by Ontario Knife Company (Not RAT Cutlery Company or ESEE Knives)."

I'll have to double check later.  Its in back of the car since we just drove down to CA.   Pretty sure it says MIL RC-3.   It has the Orange handle.  Thanks!

That is a esee!

I forgot to get it out of the car last night, but did a search to find the original sale post here.  Looks like I may be mistaken about it saying RC-3....

After they dropped Ontario, ESEE continued making "RAT" knives with RC model numbers. If it says Rowen on the blade, it was obviously not made by Ontario. As long as this is the case, the knife is for all intents and purposes an ESEE and is covered by their absolute lifetime warranty. Actually it may be covered even if it was made by Ontario, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the info!  I am sure it says Rowen on the blade.
