Hello, Its a Gerber MPT BO by the looks of it, see here and here

That is indeed an MPT, and Gerber's first attempt at beating Leatherman at their own game- the butterfly opening tool.  Surprisingly, it won the military contract, beating out the PST, although given the choice between the two, I'd rather carry a PST.

The MPT is pretty cool in it's own right though.  It has folded over handles making it more comfortable to use and the head is a bit beefier than the PST's.  Overall build quality is about the same, but the look and feel of the tool just doesn't instill as much confidence as the PST does, but that's a feel thing, not anything quantifiable.

According to the Encyclopedia link above:

The Military Provisional Tool #5 was an unexpected surprise from Gerber in the early 1990's.

That's all I know.  Bob may have more details.
