Thank you.    I'm into the large Cent's now. I just received a few more from just about the same time frame, but did not take any pictures.

That $2 is in nice shape, and I never realized that the reverse of the older 2's was different from the current ones!

Yea its in pretty good shape compared to most I have seen. I too never noticed the back was different from a standard $2 until yesterday.

I just found my old coin pot - looks like it mostly old pre-euro European from various eras, and a smattering from elsewhere.

Also found lots that are still in circulation from the UK and Canada etc - I'll keep those for return trips

I don't know if any of you are interested in the older non-US stuff, but I'm going to sort and clean them up a bit, then put them up for sale as a job lot I think.

Be careful with cleaning them. If not cleaned properly you will ruin the coins. I am always interested in coins of any variety. Let me know when you wan't to sell them and what you have.

Here are the current Aussie coins


From L] to R) 5 cent with a  Echidna on it , 10 cent with a Superb Lyrebird on it, 20 cent with a Platypus on it & 50 cent with the Australian coat of arms flanked by a kangaroo & Emu.


The 1 dollar coin with 'mob of roos' replaced the $1 note in 1984 , 2 dollar coin replaced the $2 note in 1988 it has a Aboriginal elder on it + the Southern Cross


Ever since I was a kid I have liked 50 cent coins , I just loved the look of the dodecagon(12 sided) shape, here is my special edition collection.


I think this is my favourite one the Sliver Jubilee  . Aussie 50c coins are one of the larger coins currently in use throughout the world. I have thought about putting a hole in one & using it as a fob 


The very first 50 cent coin , 1966, only lasted 1 year as it was much criticised for being too much like the 20 cent piece & uneconomical. It is 80% silver & was often worth more than it's face value   


From top left clockwise 1.1966 round 50c,2.standard 50c,3.1977 silver jubilee & 4. 2001 centenary of federation South Australia(all states & territories had their own coin)


A couple interesting ones I found in my draw , some old penny's & a commemorative 20c peice celebrating the life of one of the worlds greatest cricketers, Don Bradman.

Oh, I like that very much. 

Could you do anything cool with one.    I might have a few to play around with. I was thinking along the lines of cutting them or making something interesting.

Mat those are pretty awesome. I really like the $2 coin as well as the Cents. Maybe you need to add something new to your collection.
