For me I find that is different!

1. Serrated knife
2. Awl
3. !Stranded wirecutter!
4. Philips screwdriver
5. Medium sized flat head screwdriver ( because you can use it for smaller or larger screws)
6. Can/bottle opener

If there could be seven then I would have to pick a saw!

I'll try:

Knife; plain or serrated
Wood saw
Diamond File
Scissors
Phillips driver
Slotted Driver

Not very original, but I think useful.   :multi:

No knife blades whatsoever!

That's what my SAK and spyderco are for...the one on my multi is nice to have, but not necessary.

1. Phillips driver
2. Flathead driver
3. Awl
4. Diamond/metal file
5. Saw
6. Bottle opener with smaller flathead tip

Leatherman got it right with the original Leatherman Tool which has all of the above implements, but no saw and no scissors!

I completely agree!  I find those tools to be the most essential and I still try to find multitools that are similar to the PST.
I'm back!!

My latest theory (my theories, though all valid and of a Breakthrough like nature, tend to change faster than a woman's moods) is that a Blade (esp. a plain edge one) on a multi is a bit of a last-ditch option, when all other blades are snapped (shades of Galadriel)

(I am assuming a Plier head with the (so called) "regular" bit in the middle, for rounding off bolt heads, hard/soft/stranded wire cutters, and the elusive Crimper)

So, with no further ado (except maybe a little) the lissosiss.

REAMER!

Hmm, maybe just six different reamers?

Okay, okay - Something in the Can Opener/Cap Lifter family, combo if necessary -

A LEVER! (this can be the cap lifter too, Vic does this so so well)

This is were it gets a bit tricky, if it can't be crushed, punctured or persuaded into a state of functionality, then I'm way out of my skill compliment.

A slot head of vague enough dimensions to be used in bolts from 6 to 12 (That's 1/4" to 1/2" for those of you living in ignorance of the modern world)

a # 2 phillips. It's not ideal, but can be used to destroy a reason selection of bolt heads.

What am I up to? Four?

I'm not terribly convinced of either hex or 1/4" drive, err, drivers? on a multi - Obviously it would only ever be one, as a one-to-the-other adapter is too bloody easy to come by, but I remain skeptical of multitools with accessories. If I wanted lots of loose parts, I'd just carry the damn tools to start with.

I suppose a File would be the next option, ideally with hacksaw edge (as useless as that is)

having ruled out Scissors, and not keen on more Drive styles, I suppose I wouldn't mine a blade adapter that takes "Sawzall" blades. I know what I said about loose parts, but I elect to be selectively prejudiced.
