March Donation Prize
on: March 02, 2012, 11:09:04 PM
Hey folks, I realize this one is a bit late, but here it is- the March Donation Prize!

This one has been provided for us by Travis and is straight out of the Multitool.org Store, so I'm sure you'll all join me in thanking him for giving it up to us.

The usual rules apply- if we hit our donation goal before the end of March we'll pick a winner from the folks who donated $10 or more.  This knife has an MSRP of $69.95, so a chance to grab it for $10 or so is a pretty good deal- plus you get the warm cuddly feeling of supporting the forum we all love so much!

According to Meyerco:

    8CR13 Honed Blade
Micarta Handle with Carbon Fiber Bolster
    Stainless Steel Clip
    Measures 9-5/8” Open, with a 4-1/4” Blade
    Limited Forever Warranty

Any questions?  :D

The Catch Dog was featured on the cover of the November 2011 Tactical Knives magazine.  It also received a good review.  It is a big knife and looks to be built like a tank and would make a good companion on upcoming spring hikes or camping trips.

Anyone else wondering in what creative way Grant will do the draw now that March is over?  Maybe his dogs can pick from a set of balls with users names on it?

It's funny you should mention that- that was the plan for this month!  It will now be the plan for next month.

I'll post a winner tomorrow, along with the new prize for April.  It's been a long day!

In case anyone is wondering, this actually was the plan, and I have a whole pile of tennis balls waiting to go.  Luckily I had not put names on them yet, so we'll be able to do it next month.

The holdup is the dog.  Daisy has spent the last few days running around the local dog park and local dog beach and has managed to injure herself.  It's nothing serious, but big dogs charging into, over and around things are likely to get the odd cut paw, sprained ankle or pulled muscle.  To keep it fair and interesting I'd planned to put all the balls in a bucket or box and dump them down a large hill across the road from my house which would really randomize the balls, but it's a bit steep for her to try it with a sore shoulder.  She's probably up to doing the draw for us, because like the rest of us she doesn't know what's good for her, and sitting still isn't one of her stronger skill sets!  Anyways, all she needs is a little rest and she'll be fine- it's really nothing to worry about, and she's curled up on my bed right now dreaming happy doggy dreams.

So I have had to institute an alternate plan, and I am currently waiting for one more component to make it work, and I'll be picking that up at lunch time today.  Then I'll make the draw and post the results for everyone's amusement, and, at the same time I'll announce the April draw, which I guarantee you, no tool nut is going to want to miss whether you are a collector, a user or both!

She'll be fine provided she can deal with the mental torture of having to choose between lazing on the bed or the couch for a few days!

The component I need for the draw was held up but I'll be picking it up shortly.  My hope is to get the draw done tonight.

Processing it now.... for some reason it keeps rendering the widescreen into a standard screen. Even weirder is that I'm trying to fix it rather than appear tall ans thin!

I'd hoped to do it earlier in the day but I needed to borrow a charged air tank from my boss.  He got tied up on a job and I didn't get it until this evening, then I had to shoot it in the dark while my neighborhood was otherwise quiet.  I'm kind of surprised the cops didn't show up!

Sorry for the low resolution.  I used my old, indestructible camera, which is sadly very low resolution, but would have been ok if one of those randomly fired paintballs hit it.
