Ahahahah! That's an internet classic, but Grant had the guts to admit it  :salute:

But now you've mentioned it, besides Fred I found the following users "suspicious": ServerMechanic, Kapt Kopter, LatinoHeat.  :D

LatinoHeat was a member.  He went by a couple other names too.  (DoggyGuru and one other I can't recall at the moment.)  He worked at Gatorland in Florida.

Here's a thread about Def and I going there and meeting Johnny. http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,8705.0.html

I do believe ServerMechanic and Kapt Kopter were both actual unique members.  I don't know much about them though.

Hmm maybe we can win a prize if we find all the grant variants?

Kapt Kopter was a good friend of mine and SOSAK member who lives in British Columbia.  He's a good guy and I miss him.

Latino Heat, aka Navajero, aka Doggy Guru, aka Johnny Matos is a real person as well as Mikey said, and if you still don't believe us he's a friend of mine on Facebook - feel free to look him up.

I do suspect that the "Grant" and "Def" characters are the same person...

Maybe the truth will come out now..  :tu:

Oh and ServerMechanic is also a real guy- he's David Lowry from SOSAK who was also known as Crazy Slim and SAKGuy.  He's actually registered here under another name although he hasn't been around for a bit.

Looks like Fred's been compromised though. Too bad as I liked to use him to stir the pot a little bit here and there. I suppose I'll have to create a new member (or use another existing alias!) To fill in for him now.  I'd hoped folks wouldn't pick too closely at that part of the story.

It was a risk I took when I mentioned that part of the story.  Not a big deal. Fred hasn't been around much anyway so no great loss.

Uh now I know why I don't get any giveaway, I've missed all my takes. Nonetheless I checked the first few registered users (ids < 30) and most of them are still hanging around. :tu: That's not too usual on internet forums.

I'd hoped folks wouldn't pick too closely at that part of the story.

This worst than US elections: every single detail gets scrutinized  Anyway, that "Latino Heat" username is just awesome. People have such an imagination   :D

Yeah, I think that was his wrestling name, and I don't mean with gators!  :D

Johnny is a great guy and I miss him around here.  It was great to meet him when we were in Orlando in '09, and we had an awesome time at Gatorland!

Kapt Kopter was actually the first guy that told me about Multitool.org, when he posted a heads up about this place over on BF. :salute: Seemed like a great guy. Too bad shortly thereafter he had some real life problems that took up all his time. Hopefully he'll be back someday. :)

Since Fred's cover is blown anyway, here's one of my favorite Multitool.org stories that I was never able to tell (at least publicly) before.  It may not seem as funny now, but at the time I was about as close to peeing myself laughing as I've ever been.  :D

I started this thread and I thought I'd make Fred into a kind of downtrodden Al Bundy type, while not seeming too fake.

My name is Fred and I am married with three daughters and a schnauzer.I work as a building superintendant in a small condo comples in Burmingham, and no, I don't love the governor!I don't even know who it is at the moment.
I like SAKs and multi tools mostly since I'm always fixing stuff and need good tools I can relly on.I'm not a knife guy and I don't know what makes a knife tactical but I see that mentioned alot.
I drive a '99 Ford ranger extended cab which is another reason why I carry good tools! lol

Then a short while later Bob posts this:

Greetings all!
My name is Bob, and I am much worse off than Fred, because I am married with three daughters and TWO schnauzers. :D
No kidding!

The reason this is funny is that Bob didn't know I was Fred at the time, and I really didn't know Bob all that well either.  In fact, if you notice the date of this post (September 09, 2006) and compare it to Bob's registration date (September 07, 2006, 12:23:59 AM) then you see proof that I didn't know him at all.  Amusingly enough I got the old pickup kind of close too- I mentioned Fred had a '99 Ranger and Bob drove a full sized Chev at the time, slightly older than '99.  From that point on I stopped describing anything to do with Fred's life as it was getting a bit scary.  :D

Yeah, really sad what happened to him.  I miss him- he was a good friend in SOSAK and a great supporter here in the early days.

Maybe all your Facebook friends are figments of your imagination too.

Awesome writeup though, boss. Since I'm still a newb it's neat to read about the origins of the site.
