Couple of special SwissTools
on: March 10, 2012, 06:47:36 PM
The planets aligned and the alpine Gods smiled down on me last week; I received two very special SwissTools within just a few days of each other. First up is a rare BMW version, which came my way via WH867 Dennis in Ohio. I don't know very much about this model, but it does have an unusual style of leather sheath that I've never seen included with any other SwissTool, as well as a special black-molded wrench and bit carrier. :)

Judging by the plier head, the BMW model must have been produced in 1998 or shortly thereafter. :)

A few days later, my mailbox was graced with the seldom seen cap crimper version of the SwissTool. According to what I've been able to gleen on the internet, these were first made for and issued to French Army soldiers in 2008.

Victorinox item number on the cap crimper model is 3.0323.3CN for those who are interested in such things. :)

Very cool!

I have the same BMW SwissTool. I really like the black bit holder. And the sheath has a snap closure which I believe is unusual as well :)

It's curious they didn't include the actual BMW logo on it, just letters.

You sure it wasn't made for some weird group called Big Manly Woman?  :D

Those are great finds Bob. I tried to get the BMW version a while back with no luck.

....Big Manly Woman..... ::) :twak: :D

Hmmm, according to ICFT, the BMW one was made for BMW motorcycles...

Something a little different; a Black Bit-Kit.  Included with a BMW Motorcycles branded SwissTool - X kit.

Amici,
I'm also digging that sheath, still can't understand why an upscale manufacturer like Victorinox would use velcro on their decent quality leather sheaths.. Oh well, one more for the ages to ponder...

Cheers,
Serge

Yup, pretty much the standard nylon sheath with velcro closure. Not bad, but nothing special. I would have thought they would have included some heavy duty military-type sheath with a black cap crimper tool
