Was just thinking on this... the vic spirit, no matter what version, is a remarkable piece of engineering and design. It's like a SAK that happens to fold out to pop some strong pliers: outside available tools, snaps closing, snaps opening, just perfect.

However this design comes with a price: its tools -- specially the 4 big ones -- are too short regarding the spirit's own size. For example, the spirit's blade is shorter than fuse/blast and the same length as the big blade of the 91mm SAKs. These even have a bigger wood saw!

I've never found it to be an obstacle, but then I'm not a big saw user when it comes to SAKs or multitools. The best saw available on a multitool still has to go to the Swiss though - the one on the 120mm Rangers and in my case Swissgrip. I've used the spirit file a few times and never found the length to be an issue. The knife blade too for that matter

Sure the tools could be longer if they made the plier heady stubby but I wouldnt like that.  The only thing Id change on a spirit is the scissor style, the tool lengths are fine with me.

The only MT were I felt the tools were ridiculously short was the gerber mp600 do to the extra space taken by the sliding plier head.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

The Gerber Flick could be added to that as well. I like the Flick but the tools are ridiculously stubby.

The only part of a spirit that I've every felt that was too short is the length of the cutting blades in the plier head.

I gotta agree with you there, they definitely could have went with a larger wire cutter section. :-\  Never had any complaints about the blade lengths though. :salute:

i agree,  full sized scissors in the spirit would make it tough to improve this tool anymore.

Amici,
I dunno, I'm still feeling the Spirit regardless. Never had a situation where the tools were either too short or too stubby to tackle any task that I brought before it. But then again, that's been my experience.

Cheers,
Serge

I'm happy with the way the Spirit is but I wouldn't want the tools/blades any shorter though .
