Help in identifying an old slippie
on: March 25, 2012, 12:16:10 AM
A friend at work asked if we could help identify or fill in some background on this little pocket knife.

Its Sheffield made, maybe 30 to 40 years old,has 'Richards' branding, and I'm guessing is carbon rather than stainless steel.
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

This is a quote from Neil  :salute:

The Richards knives are found in abundance throughout the UK as once upon a time they chucked out more penknives than anyone else in he country. Back when every tourist attraction had a branded pocket knife for sale amongst the keyrings and bookmarks you could put good money on it having been made in the Richards factory.

The only thing I can add is it does look like carbon steel to me so it might be a little older than you think but the scales look hollow so its not before the 60’s?  :-\
This is just my guess work, hopefully Neil will bee along soon with a better answer  :tu:
Everything’s adjustable

From the main blade and the handle shape it looks, to me, like a gardening knife.

Al : "Women!"
