Best sheath/pouch for 93mm alox?
on: April 01, 2012, 02:32:41 AM
Just wanted to get some opinions on the best sheath for 93mm alox models. I tried a little bit of looking around to no avail. Also, to specify I'm looking for a nylon or other non-leather option. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I won't be so presumptuous to call this the "best," but it is a very good nylon option. I picked one up at REI, which is a chain of recreational equipment stores in Southern California. It works well with the SAK's I personally own ~ both alox & cellidor. I like mine and use it often!

I use these if i belt carry a 4 layered or larger SAK but it could work with a Farmer too. It's an AA flashlight holster. Cheap too. Very slimline,  has a belt loop and D-ring attachment.

evanPGH , are you asking for a belt pouch or one to carry in the pocket? Personally I would be interested in either.

I have a thin leather one that I was sent free as a sample of someone's work. Upon receipt, it seemed kind of plain, but with age and probably some leather treatment, such as Pecard's, I like it better than ever. I use it on a few knives. I don't seem to have a picture handy. I misplaced or lost the contact information. It was on one of the forums, years ago, send a SASE and he sent you the sample. Does anyone recall this or know who I am writing about?  I would definitely consider ordering some. I also got some pocket pouches from JRE Industries

This is a pouch from JRE that is being used on a Lumberman in this picture.

On the right is a belt pouch or sheath holding a blue Farmer. A.G. Russell™ Leather Pouch for Small Folders. On the left is the front of a Victorinox Zermat pouch holding a Swiss Champ.

Here the back side of the pouch is on the left with the back of the Victorinox Zermat pouch holding a Swiss Champ on the right.

Sorry you cannot see the Farmer in the belt pouch, but it does fit perfectly.

Some more JRE pouches, I do not know if they will usually make this type or not. The Lumberman again along with some Fällkniven knives.

This EKA moosehide or elkhide belt pouch or sheath also holds a Vic Farmer, although I usually use it for its intended purpose of holding an EKA Swede 88 masur birch handled folder. What a great thin blade. Swede 88

I happened across a picture that includes the pocket pouch or sheath that I mentioned. It is brown leather. AS I mentioned I wish I remembered the source.

Here is was being used to protect a Victorinox Scientist.

I really like those sheaths, my Dad has one for his spartan.
