Singapore military multitools: A vague timeline

The jack knife is made in china, copy of sheffield British Army issue knife. It's available around S$5. Before the black batam, I did have a cellidor red one and I thought the SOG come before the OHT?

Oh, they are still selling it? Not in the e-mart right, because I haven seen them there.

I remember seeing the OHT before the SOG, but that's something I pieced together from what my younger friends showed me, so I could be wrong.

Have you contracted SOG about ordering a pair? http://sogknives.com/store/100-450.html

I understand you can buy all the parts separately and interchange them yourself.

I've seen that page. But that's not an option for me as SOG doesn't ship outside of the US and Canada.

I think they stop the SOG in 2008 and the OHT is still available from emart today. If you read mindef site about soldier personal equipment, there is mentioning about the SOG being replacem with OHT. I bought the jack knife from Army market just to keep it as it has been to many field camps with me over the years. We use to hate it but I kind of like it today. I just sharpen it yesterday, I was from the era where field camp food was the dog biscult and chinese made black PT shoe. Metal helmet and heavy SBO and cook house food where rice was full of rice beetles.

Contact Chris@SOG and ask him if there's anything they can do for you. He's a member here and his contact info is in his profile. If they can't help you I'm sure you can find someone here that can pass it on to you.

But looking at a MINDEF page describing personal equipment, it seems they started issuing the SOG in 2008. If you are right, that means they stopped it within the year.

Good idea. I'm going to want in on the PowerDuo group buy when that happens, will ask Travis then if he can help ship a pair of scissors at the same time. Killing two birds with one multi! :D

Nice. Which country did it originate? It certainly looks in much better shape than mine.
Sorry for the late reply, the one I have has no markings indicating where it was made, nothing on the blade tang or elsewhere, oh and that flat tip is meant to be used as a screw driver. I believe this is a genuine issued BAK, probably British made, definitely been carried a lot but in excellent usable condition, if this was just the knife blade model I'd keep it but hey, pm your address and its yours :tu:

ps. Some useful NATO numbers.

NSN 5110-99-301-0301 (with locking blade & can opener)
NSN 5110-99-794-0491 (without can opener)
NSN 7340-99-975-7402 (with can opener & no spike)
NSN 7340-99-975-7403 (with can opener & spike)

You are right, I have this number 2008 inside my head reading from some forum and I was in the MR list in 2007. I searched the forum again, it says SOG was issued from 2008 until 2010.

http://militarynuts.com/index.php?showtopic=3128&st=15

The SOG was supposedly sold for S$70 at emart and was long gone. Anyone here still have one to sell me? :gimme: Some folk still selling their on local forum around S$40, I heard the SOG will rust.

I got a black Batam for S$6 and OHT for S$34 from emart few months ago. Very good value, I feel like buying a few more to keep :D Go get it if you don't have one. My red Batam was never use I can't find it, probably in my SBO at my old house. My original Jack knife is probably still waterproof pack as one of the full pack item in the full pack again old house
