Anyone interested in a Meetup in Maine?
on: April 13, 2012, 01:57:15 AM
The Chucker Of Hawks and I were just talking on Facebook and we thought it might be time for another Maine Meetup.  We haven't had one since September of '08.

We'd be in a nice campground with all the facilities- you can bring camping gear or you can rent a trailer either by yourself or double up with someone else.  The trailer we had last time had (if I recall correctly) one bedroom with a queen size bed and two couches in the main room that folded out to queen size beds.  In the nearby town of Freeport there is a Cabela's and the flagship LL Bean store that started it all, and takes up a whole city block.  There's also Freeport Knife Shop and lots of other little stores and boutiques for any non multi or knife family members that may come along.

Also, since it's John that sets this up and his family (including a ten year old girl) are there the whole thing is very family friendly... or at least as family friendly as we can be!

I'm thinking September is best for me, but we can consider other dates, so if you are interested, post with what works for you.

Count me in as a tentative yes.

Awesome Mikey.  It'd be good to see you again!  :D

For anyone who may want to consider flying in, we can arrange transport easily enough from the airport in Portland.  Since I'll probably be driving down I can pick anyone up that needs it.

I'll more than likely fly in.  Any tentative dates so I can keep an eye out for tickets?

There really doesn't seem like a lot of interest so far...

Maybe we should have the Maine meetup in England, so we get a better turnout

It would at least make sourcing an ostrich egg a lot easier!

I was there this past summer. It's a very nice place, especially if you're bringing family. Chuck Buck was at LL Bean signing (engraving?) knives. Hope you guys have fun  :tu:

Maybe we should turn this into a Nova Scotia meetup.  I should be allowed back in Canada by now... :D

What does a Non Resident hunting license cost in Canada? I'm assuming you can get one. I could be wrong.

Considering how many people come here to hunt I believe you can, but as a resident I've never needed a non resident license. I'll check into it and let you know.
