Skeletool came today

After waiting since last November for the Skeletool reading everything I can find about. It finally came in the mail today.

I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with it. It's a little longer than I expected with the carabiner taking up making it longer at the end of the tool.

The bit driver is has to be used in the stretched position which is something that I always did with my LM Charge and works good on the Skeletool. I went around the house and tightened all the screws I could find.
I like the extra bit holder and the new press button lock that holds the bit in place nice and tight.

The skeletool is as long as the other 4 inch LM tools but very thin and light.

It's about as thin as the LM SideClip with the pocket clip sticking out.

I like the way the Skeletool opens and closes with backsprings snapping it open and shut. Something that is new to large LM tools.

The pliers seem stronger than the Juice tools while not as strong as the Charge type tools. I think that they will perform good on any light to medium heavy tasks.

I really like the the knife blade on the tool. Mine opens nice and smooth with a good click of the blade lock. The blade as a curve towards the tip and is on the thick side. It locks up nice and sturdy and good and sharp right out of the box. The thumb hole is a little small but I have had any problems with it. One thing to note is that there is some machining marks on one side of the thumb hole. Making it rough on the finger. I think Tom reported the same thing on his Skeletool. I will take a file to it later. The blade is smaller than the Charge blade but bigger than the Juice.

One thing I really like about the Skeletool is there is no square of sharp points on it. It's very curvy and flowing. A good looking tool. If someone wants a light weight tool without all the implements of the larger tools the Skeletool may be the choice for you.

Nice pics! They give a slightly different perspective than Tom's, it's really helping me flesh out this tool in my mind so I know what to expect when I buy it.

Good to see it works in the stretched position, when using the drivers that is the usual way I go about it.

I am wondering how I will like the one-way use plier handles.

I remember that pic from Tom and was wondering about the same thing. But I don't have any see any problems for me using it either way. My hands must be much smaller than Toms because the bit doesn't dig into the bottom of my palm.

They aren't that deep. Just a little bit deeper than where the LEATHERMAN is cut out of the plier on other tools.

Very nice pics. I just have to set up a light box to get some better shots now.

I'm pleased that those who are now getting the tool are just as happy with it as I am. I know some of you thought I liked it TOO much.

Very concise & detailed things to say as well.

Yesterday I got my first look at the Skeletool and the Skeletool CX. My impressions are the same as you guys who have already got one; they have a precision and quality about them that is far beyond other recent Leatherman tools.

If you mean why did I put other tools in some of the pictures, it was to compare the Skeletool in size to them.

I am so facinated by the skeletool that it made me go from a fly on the wall to a forum member. Does anyone know when I can expect to see this at a retail store (ie Dicks or Gander Mnt)? BTW-thanks for the reviews.

I'll bet that we'll be seeing these in stores by the end of the month, but I don't really know. Def & Bob, did the Leatherman folks at SHOT give any idea of whether the supply was great enough to have these in quantity soon?

I definately like the skeletool but I am waiting for the CX version to arrive. Most places still have them on backorder.

We didn't ask specifically Tom. They did tell us that production was in full swing. I imagine they will fill wholesale orders in the order they were received.

It would seem like big chain stores have extra steps in the process....items have to first be shipped to a central distribution warehouse, then they get inventoried, then trucked out to the individual stores, then get stocked out on store shelves.

It might be awhile yet. $:-\$

After using the Skeletool for the last couple of days one that has really struck me about it is how sturdy it is. You look it in pictures and see all the holes and cutouts in it and think that it must be flimsy. But when using it the handles don't have any flex from side to side, the handle with the carabiner is much stronger than I expected. And it very comfortable to hold when when using the Knife. The knife is also much thicker and stronger than I thought.

All and all the more I use the Skeletool the more I like it.
