A few questions about the PPP
on: April 26, 2012, 11:50:12 PM
I've never owned a SOG product but have recently got an itch to get a Pocket PowerPlier. The compound leverage feature intrigues me as does the swappable tools. I'm trying to decide between the regular S44 and the deluxe S45. Are the handles thicker on the deluxe to accommodate the extra tool on one side and the socket driver on the other, which I'm assuming is thicker than the other tools. If so, how can it be that SOG's website has them both listed with the same weight?

I'm also assuming that on either model I could replace the combo blade with a saw. Right?

If I got the deluxe what tools would I be able to swap for the socket driver. Would the V-cutter be too long?

They are probably the same width but there are washers in them - can't remember offhand.

I have fitted a v-cutter in one before though :)

Both the S44 and 45 have the same chassis, and yes the socket driver is wider than the normal tools,nd matches up well with scissors.Like Nupforia,I've done the V-cutter thing. Its easy enough but you will need some thin washers to hand to a)give clearence from the inside of the handle, and b)make up space as to the width of the tool. And lastly,ye you can fit the saw
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Yes, it needs a socket adapter to clip onto it, in order to take the bits. I don't have the SOG one, but one from a generic socket set, but I have never used it.

In fact, I'm ashamed to say, I have never used this tool. It has been in my work bag for the last few months along with a Spirit X. The Spirit is what I always reach for.
