Wow that's a lot of growth. We just thawed a week or two ago and grass just started turning green.

I'm a bit behind with mine this year but have got potatoes ready to go in next week and broad beans, peas and sweetcorn seeds to plant one evening. Need to buy some tomato plants for the raised beds, move the strawberries and put some nets up over the fruit bushes too.

It's just a small garden for personal use. Currently planted are: onions (lots of them) broad beans, peas (the netting is for them), beet, carrots, parsnip, chard, cucumbers and strawberries (I think that's it  ). Tomatoes should be next.

We had barely any winter this year, not even a week of snow so my garden got kind of an early start compared to you NA folks. ;)

Looking forward to seeing your pics soon too.

Last year was consumed with home renovations.  This year, I'm starting the garden reclamation process.  The strawberry beds are cleaned and have big promise.  I've cleaned out the blackberry bramble and tamed it somewhat by running wire on either side to prevent excessive spreading.

Next up: The asparagus bed, the raspberry bramble and the rhubarb bed.  :)

Took a bit longer than 24 hours to get round to it, but finally got the potatoes in today - 6 rows of Desirees and Charlottes. Can't wait until stuff starts to pop up.

Yesterday was productive:

1. Tomatoes in.
2.  Peppers in.
3.  Pickling cucumbers are in.
4. Strawberry beds weeded (again).

As soon as there's some good growth, I'll take a few pictures.  :)

Planted a block of sweet corn yesterday - that's all of the big spaces in the garden filled. Just waiting for some tomato plants to go in the raised beds then I'm done for the year. The peas and broad beans have started to sprout already. As have last year's potatoes. ::)

Two rows of radishes are up and yesterday I put in carrots, kale, green onions, green beans, lettuces, and sweet peas. Cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes and asparagus have yet to go in. Asparagus today hopefully. Everything is in raised beds.

Will asparagus grow well in a raised bed?

You have some late ones. I've already eaten a bunch of mine.

There are some real monster strawberries here. A multitool for size reference. ;) That's a ST300, not a Rebar. :ahhh

You can see some work in progress in the background but more about it when it's done. ;)

Almost everything is out and growing nicely.

She was helping with the cables. ;)

And the wild bunch digging through the compost fro worms.

Got the tomato plants in, thinned out the peas and spotted the first shoots of sweetcorn poking through last night.  No sign of anything from my French beans so looks like I'm going to have to find something else to fill the raised bed.

Good looking irrigation system, Gojkan.

Are those tomatoes in the background? I just let them climb along a hanging string. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow.

I haven't posted here in a while but I've been taking pics all the time so here's the complete update to the garden situation.

Last year hail did some damage to the plants so this year we have a net in place to prevent that. A little recycling was also done. The posts you see in the middle are actually the old window frames that were left from changing out the windows on my house a few months back. :D

The fence on the side of the garden got used as a a holder for the side posts.

And finally finished the greenhouse too.

Used the holders for electrical conduit (?) as clamps for the nylon. The metal bars underneeth it are wrapped in sponge used for insulating pipes.

Birds view of the whole thing.

And current condition of the green stuff. :P

Nik I wished my garden looked that good. We have had some much rain the ground never get dry enough to hoe or till and the weeds are getting out of control. Hopefully it will dry out before long.

Thanks.

We're having the opposite here. If I didn't have a water pump (next to the regular one under the tin cover in first pic) and had to rely on public water supply, it would be quite costly.

I have two giant plastic barrels that I planned to make into rain barrels, but the two downspouts are both in front while garden is in back, so I'm not quite sure how to do it. Now they just sit in the basement taking up space.  :wait:

But I'm right beside a big river so water isn't expensive, and the garden is small enough to not needing much.

Mine looks a bit different this year. I started off with this bomb site ....

but have been putting in quite a bit of work to make it a nicer place to sit out and lower maintenance than last year, so now it looks something like this ...

The seating area has moved since last year and there's more space round it. I've moved more towards fruit trees and bushes, as the veggies weren't worth the effort in pots and cost more too. I still have some veggies, but oddball stuff you can't readily buy

Made a start on preparing the garden for this year's veg today. Double-dug 3 barrows of cow smurf into one veg bed ready for planting broad beans, sweet corn and courgettes. Got my potatoes chitting, going to get them in the other bed later this month. Prepped the raised beds for French beans and tomato plants, and dug a third of the contents of the compost bin out for mulching the strawberries.
