What did you use your Leatherman for today?
on: May 13, 2012, 02:09:27 AM
So with so many Leathermans out there, there has to be some pretty exciting stories to go with them.   This thread is an attempt to document them.

So what did you use your Leatherman for today?  Did your fix the sink or save the world?

Amici,
Well so far today, I used my Squirt S4 to remove the plastic wrap from the top of a bottle of green Tea. Not exactly MacGuyver stuff huh?

Cheers,
Serge

I should win something for this.......I actually used my Blast to replace a toilet seat in an upstairs bathroom today :)  Well, you asked what I did with my Leatherman today, right? That's what I did. :)

I used my PS4 knife blade to cut my finger open while attempting to get into a clam shell package... Then I used the scissors to open a new package of bandaids my wife and I just happened to buy at Target today... What a day.

I used my charge TTi to disassemble my dishwasher so I could find out I have to spend more money to fix it.

Yesterday I got a nasty splinter of wood that broke off underneath the skin so I made a wider opening in enabling me to squeeze out the splinter. This is why I like the acute tips of LM knife blades as opposed to the more blunt Vic variety.

Today I again used the knife blade to harvesthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nettle for a delicious (and extremely nourishing) nettle soup we had for dinner.

I also use the pliers to operate the burning hot hatch of our http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masonry_heater.

Which model? My, by far, most carried EDC for almost three years: The Skeletool CX.

Yesterday I spooled 4 offshore reels. Removed the reel  clamps, cut line. Stripped wire  to fix a safe  and disassembled a pump

Tool used: Rebar

Opened up an eBay package of a new MAC Tools brake spring tool.  With MAC Tools and Leatherman, you have an unbeatable combination.  Have thousands invested in both.

Used the pliers of the Squirt PS4 to press two metal rings.. so that they become sth like a keyring attachment. Used the knife to open the packaging of some bread... lol There are so many tiny daily uses that it's hard to keep track :D

I used my sideclip to take apart a pump today, it was leaking.  Not sure what I did, but it works now.  I never found the leak, I think just tightening it up did the trick.

Amici,
Call it ironic, but I used my skeletool to open the clam shell packaging of my newly arrived Juice S2 that arrived in a groovy shade of orange.

Cheers,
Serge

Used my surge to help install my awesome new tool box on my pickup. And with all the rampant finger cutting going on I'm glad to report my fingers are all un-opened.

I used the scissors on my Surge to open 3 different clam packs that contained accessories for my camera.  These were not whimpy clam packs, either.  They were the ones that were intended to keep you out of, but the bad ass scissors on the Surge cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

My old Philips depilator broke today- a tiny piece of longish metal came out of it from a hole that had never existed before...  ... I thought: oh, well, it's 7 years old, who cares, I'll go buy new one. Then I recalled... wait, I have my PS4 in my pocket, let's check what it can do! And guess what, it did a lot! My depilator's like brand new, apart from the freakin hole I'll think what to repair with, and the PS4 has just saved me about $30 for a new Philips! :D

Amici,
Earlier this morning, I used my ST 300 to prune some branches from an apple tree that was starting to get a tad to hairy for me once the wind kicked up since it would brush against the window some nights.

Cheers,
Serge

Just got back from a camping trip with my Charge TTI, over the last 2 days it was used for:

-Gut hook - for gutting a fish
-Pliers - moving pots on an open fire
-Scissors - cutting 550 cord
-Knife blade - Whittling

I can see why Les Stroud (survivorman) would say that the Wave/Charge his favourite multi-tool.

Had a super tool orgy at work. Two ST's and my ST300 Mending 3/8 Quick connect couplings clogged with dirt, rust and abuse. Of course the two old timers had the OG ST's Both in great condition and the 25 year warranty put to use on both of them. I'll re neg my comment about the noodnicks at work for the two guys.
