Seems quite a lot of electrical tasks are being done with Leatherman mts, maybe it's time for Leatherman to come up with an insulated mt with the usual tools but with a test pen incorporated as well.  :tu:

Used the "hook sharpener" groove on the diamond file in my new PST II to sharpen the straight pin from my Vic Compact.  That's a handy feature for the diamond coated side of the file.  I'm surprised and curious as to why that hasn't been carried over to any of the modern Leathermans.

I agree - love the file and the groove. Wish it was an easy one to throw in other mods.

Used the phillips screwdriver on my Juice to screw in some steel boot cleats for walking on ice.  Wish I'd used my Charge, with the tool-lock instead. It slipped, and dammit, I broke a nail.  >:(

Used my Black Oxide Leatherman Rebar to hang and mount all the hardware for a 150lb mirror. Worked like a champ.

Took a fan head off of an industrial pedestal fan. I'll start testing an whole family of them tomorrow. The Surge was great to hold the nut, while I used The Right Tool for the Job to turn the bolt on the opposite side. ;)

I don't get why Leatherman hasn't utilized this version of the file in anything else.  Which leads to another question of why the diamond file isn't a standard for files on every Leatherman (or Swisstools for that matter) that has a file.  Mainly talking about the Rebar as I don't see a point to having both sides of the file set up like that and no diamond side at all.

I got to use the bit driver on my Skeletool CX to install a few Cisco switches into an old bolt style equipment rack. The Skeletool worked much better than expected. The bit fit perfectly, and the body of the Skeletool was actually pretty easy to rotate in my hand.

The blade gets used every day for odd jobs.

That wouldn't make each tool unique and we wouldn't have to buy multiple tools  Also, isn't that what modding is all about?

Oh yes, very true.  The big multitool conspiracy to keep us from being 100% satisfied with a particular model so that we buy others.  Sometimes I forget about that, thanks for reminding me :D

Well I'm not a modder, so that doesn't do me any good.  Although I am interested in learning how at some point.

Also true with women as far as I know. As the saying goes, there are four important qualities when seeking a mate: First, you want a woman who likes to have lots of sex. Second, you want a woman who is a good mother and housekeeper. Third, you want a woman who has a great career and makes lots of money. And fourth, it is critically important that these three women never meet each other. :D

Bottom line: don't try to find the one perfect multitool; do combos instead. Spirit S + LM Micra, LM Charge ALX and SAK with scissors, etc... You get what you want, and the tools won't mind. (well, most of the times at least... there are rumours of grumpy tools that have bitten their owners when they lost exclusivity of pocket time... ::)) :D

Yeah, that's what I do.  I usually carry a full size multitool with a SAK.  I just really like the diamond file on the PST II.  It just seems like the best one IMO, and it would be nice to have it on other multitools.  I liked your women joke

Just got to try the PST II scissors for the first time.  Used them to cut some archive box number labels here at work.  They worked great :tu:

I just used the bit driver on my wave to adjust my work truck mirror.  Had to use a torx bit, so I'm happy to say my extra bits came in handy!

Used the PST II's pliers to try to loosen a stubborn Brita water filter from a faucet here at work.  I say try because I had forgotten that the "righty tighty-lefty loosey" rule doesn't apply to plumbing.  Everyone who tried before me didn't realize that at all as my wife (she works here as well, but in a different building :)) thought to ask me since she knew I'd have pliers on me (haha, another instance to remind her of why I carry them :D).  Well, if they had thought to try the other direction, it would have come right off.  Of course I scratched the twist off part all up and tightened it even more before realizing plumbing works the opposite way.

The knob on the oven in our stove broke a few days ago, and while it will turn the thing on and set a temp, it won't turn it off again.     Been carrying my S2 just for turning the oven off.  (I do the vast majority of cooking for our family; I worked as a prep-cook and line-cook all throughout my teenage years and early 20's, before I started college.)

Open the awl on a Surge and tape a sharpie marker to the other handle and you've got a good improvised compass for laying out circles.

Used the PST II's scissors to trim a stray whisker.  I don't have a SAK with scissors on me today (carrying the Alox P-Rancher)  Bugs me that the Alox models have no scissors  but I still love my P-Rancher.  It just feels like one of those SAKs that will last my lifetime, and probably beyond :tu:

A Charge with Surge scissors would be nearly the perfect multi-tool.  I guess if there were only one perfect multi-tool, Leatherman would only sell that one, and make less money.

Yes I agree.  I would like scissors on the outside, in place of the saw I would say as that's the one implement I really don't use on my Charges.  In most practical situations (that I know of) where I may possibly need a saw, I will have one on me.  That doesn't mean there aren't cases where the saw on the multitool would be handy and useful.  For my uses though, the saw is the expendable tool in that line up.  Also, replace the fixed large flathead with an awl and voila :o  The perfect-ish multitool :tu:

Like you said though, if such a thing existed, then there wouldn't be much of a business, nor would it be much fun for us "addicts" ;)

I wouldn't part with the saw on my Charge. It came in handy on a trek in the forest, when I spied upon the perfect wood for a walking stick; a dry-cured black spruce sapling with the perfect curve for a handle.  If I hadn't had the Charge saw, I couldn't have cut through such a wood of legendary strength.  The Spruce Goose wasn't made out of mahogany, after all...
