SOG Pocket PowerPlier question
on: May 14, 2012, 12:08:22 AM
Ok, I have been thinking about expanding my collection by adding a SOG tool, more specifically a Pocket PowerPlier. I have never held one or even used one, but I hear they have a good reputation.

Here is my question: Can the SOG multi-tool components fit into the Pocket PowerPlier?

I would like to replace either the awl or the file with the modular scissors to make a more useful tool. Is this possible?
Took the red pill...

Yup- the components all fit into the Pocket Power Plier, Pocket Power Plier Deluxe, the now discontinued Power Plier, the PowerLock and the PowerAssist.  They also fit in the SwitchPlier and the Paratool.

It's still listed on their site?

Only the Power Plier and Switchplier in the above list are discontinued- the rest are still available.

And, getting back to the original question, the Paladin series is made by SOG and also work with the interchangeable parts, as does (I believe) the Blacktip or whatever it's called.  The giant ass one.

I have the SOG built Paladin PT-510 which IMHO is a superior frame for the pocket power plier with a more refined plier head and gear covers, and takes all the standard SOG components. Anyone considering looking at building a bespoke tool on a PPP should also look at a PT-510
