Old Cross History
on: May 15, 2012, 03:47:42 PM
I'm sure it's been covered already but my search-fu is weak today.

Does anyone have info about when the old cross models started and ended being produced?

On sakwiki it claims that the old cross ran between 1986 and 1999 on the first mate, but there's no source for that info, and I'm not sure if different models used the cross between different periods?

There is a catalogue image on sakwiki from "the 70s" showing old crosses in use.

I know it's not likely that anyone really knows for sure, else it'd be on the wiki I suppose, but just thought I'd bring the topic up.

Cheers!

The old cross went from the introduction of the alox line in c. 1957 until they switched to the new cross design around 2000-2001. Not sure why SakWiki says it was 1986 for the First Mate, as there are many instances of 60s era First Mates with the old style cross.

It could just be ambiguously phrased; it could mean that particular model number came in in 1986.
