Soon to be owner.  I just came across this on amazon and pulled the trigger. Any idea what the description means when it says "Peg"? Is it talking about the sheath?

I bought that same item from Amazon (from the same vendor .... Electronica Direct, fulfilled by Amazon). You'll get a blister pack Rebar with a MOLLE sheath. Don't know what "PEG" means, but you'll get a blister pack black oxide Rebar with a MOLLE sheath. This is an awesome deal.

By the way, I'm in love with the Rebar. After buying a ST300, I was hesitant to buy a Rebar. It just seemed too redundant. But I love the smaller size. I own a baker's dozen or so Leatherman tools now, but the Rebar may be my favorite of the bunch.

I was at Target tonight and taken completely by surprise by a single remaining REBAR on the shelf just calling my name.  It looked better and more compact in person than I'd imagined from the online photos I've seen.  So I bought it, and have been fiddling with it ever since.

At first impression, it kinda reminds me of the PST, given its size and tool selection.  I'm not so convinced how the chisel ground serrated blade will fair but the plain edge blade seems to be setup pretty well. 

I did find that the tools on the side of the Philips were a little difficult to maneuver where it takes some effort to extend the tools.  I wonder if some oil will help this difficulty.

Overall, I'm quite pleased and feel I got my money's worth, but only time will tell how it holds up to every day use 

I know, when I first had it in my hand, it was more compact like you said.  It really is smaller than I expected, but that makes it lighter and sleeker and perfect for pocket carry imo.  It is similar to the PST in that sense, but also robust like the ST300.  It is one of my top 3 full size MTs (the other 2 being the Charge and Spirit).  Enjoy

The only thing that could make it any better would be a nice pair of scissors.  I would replace the chisel ground sheeps foot blade with scissors.  I don't really see much use for that blade.

That would be good. I'm not a SE user so that blade isn't any good to me. What scissors would fit that pivot though?

I used to be on that same page when I first got the Rebar as scissors are a must for me.  Then I entered the wonderful world of SAKs and began carrying one along with my MTs to give me a wider range of options and fill in those gaps, like the lack of scissors on the Rebar.  So now scissors on a full size MT don't seem to be a must when I have a SAK to cover that need for me

Very good point   The only time I see myself only being able to carry one or the other is during the summer when I'm not working and wearing light shorts.  In that case, I would probably end up carrying a SAK due to the light weight.  At work and during the rest of the seasons, I am able to carry a MT and at least one SAK (or two )

Although the Charge's OHO is nice, I kind of boycotted the Charge because of that useless tiny screwdriver...  I'd rather it had an awl instead.

Can't argue with that.  I'd much rather have an awl as well, but OHO does occasionally come in handy.

So any other initial impressions/thoughts on it yet?  I agree that it's basically a compact ST300 (nothing wrong with that imho ).

So far, so good I'm using the knife right now to cut paracord.

What are you going to do for a mod?  Decapitate it for the pliers to be put on another tool?

Yip, still deciding if I want to make a Recharge AL or Recharge TTi, but I suspect it will have to be a Recharge ALX or XTi because of the plier head clearance

I would probably go with the TTi (I think someone here has done that, but not sure).  I would love Rebar pliers on my TTi

I have never experienced this with any model Leatherman. Seems you have been fiddling with it quite a lot and after removing the wire cutters and the problem still stays the same leads me to believe you are correct in your "diagnosis." I would say this is a defective tool that should be replaced.

That sucks BigMatt. Hope you get that rebar fault resolved. Ive had mine for a few days and think the tool is great, except for the extremely loose deployed tools when locked. Warranty fix? The tools are locked but not "LOCKED" Its an odd feel when torquing down on a screw with that play. An email to LM wouldnt hurt. Till then pictures are in order.
With all the MT savvy knowlage around here I thought the first pic was fitting. A little input here goes a long way. Then the Rebar is gonna tackel some .011 thru .049 nickel wound guitar string. Ill post a pic tommorow if the cutters fail and fold on the little e string.

After eyeballing the rebar for about a year now finally picked one up to push the swisstool spirit aside.  Still prefer the vic sheath though.

Just picked up my Rebar today,looked in the LM production time line,and it shows 2012,my question is that mine has 801 in both handles,that makes no sense to me,does anybody else have production dates in there's??

That actually may be B01.  Let me check mine....yup, B01 on the inside of the lock tab.  Is that what you're talking about?  Mine has no date, which I believe I've read others stating this as well.
