LEATHERMAN REBAR : Black Oxide and Polished Stainless

I never thought of the Rebar as a heavy duty tool, and I use it like a pocket knife. It is excellent as a light all-purpose in the pocket tool. I tend to use the silver model, as I love the black oxide in the pure state. But I will scuff it up in use soon enough.

It works in the pocket for me precisely because it is a nice, neat rectangle, with no jutting bits. Stays grit-free on hikes, like my SuperTool 300. I can forgive the extra second or so to open up the knife. I usually have a 45cm Gurkha kukri clenched between my teeth on a town walkabout anyway.

Now I am confused. That Rebar must have gotten trapped in a transmogrifier with a few other multitools. Is that a Gerber scissors?

Very nice Frankenmehrfachwerkzeug!

Thanks

Scissors are out of a Wave, as are the bit drivers, file and pocket clip. For complete history see Rebar VX status. Original: pliers, main blades (PE, SE), saw, large screwdriver, awl and can opener - the rest is "imported" :D

Hey guys, can I join the Rebar Club please?

Some factory fit and finish issues I had to fix. More details in a post to follow, but you’ll spot the brass bushes in the locking tabs. Had fun fitting those tonight!

Tools now lock rock solid, so a worthwhile mod. I bet nobody can guess where I got 3mm bushes? RC car servo mounts...

First Leatherman stripdown and mod for me. I used aluminum coated copper cable terminators for pivot tools. Work well (quick and no damage).

Enough for tonight, so kicking back to enjoy the Rebar. It’s not perfect, but the club members know, with a bit of work, a great tool!

Cheers, Max
