Anyone know the point of leatherman squaring off the edges of the plier heads, like on the Rebar? I seem to prefer the much more rounded look and feel.

Probably has to do with money (cheaper to make them like this now)

I do like the more rounded plier heads of the oldschool LM as well

It's to strengthen the area that hold the replaceable cutters.

They could have rounded the front half and left the angle behind the cutters

They are a bit blocky now though vs. the older rounded style though :-\ They still look nice but I think taking those edges down a bit would make them have more appeal :D

I know I have a MT problem when I care about how the tool looks   :D

To cut costs I'm sure.

I am sure every bit of material you remove to make it rounded would also probably weaken it as well :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Anyone remember the mod thread were a member chamfered or rounded the plier head on the Rebar? I wanted to revisit it

Perfect. I just wanted to see it again before I commit. But that'll probably push me over, looks really really nice.

Edit: I hadn't clicked the pic, was small, didn't notice the head swap...

The Rebar ranks as one of my favorite MTs and now that it is modded with scissors and diamond file I think it may be my favorite :o

Now I need to put a clip on it for weekend carry maybe  :D
