Just got a rebar today and join the club!!
Compared in a retail shop with the ST300 and found it more fit my small hand. I am very surprised how compact, light, but mighty it is.
It's as small as a wingman,  lighter than the wave,  but gets all the useful tools in.  Strong pliers and removable cutters.  Waoo.  And cheap.

I think I have to oil it well when home as the handles to deploy the pliers are super stiff at the moment. Many people say the inner tools are stiff but mine is fine.  They are loose enough to be engaged without cracking my finger nails and stiff enough to keep them from falling out when using the pliers. Nice little bad boy.

My almost-20-year-old Pulse went to service and surprisingly, I got new Rebar instead... Nice, but I'll mod it cause I miss scissors and diamond file so much

Hi guys. As mentioned above I added a Rebar today to my MT family (a small family). I have asked so many dumb questions here and in the other thread and you guys are so kind to answer all my questions. The best way to say thank you in the forum style shall be pics, so let's meet my little boys.

The red old dad on the right (my oldest tool) with the three little boys.
3 years old big brother (Wingman, bought 3 years ago).
2 years old second brother (Surge), and the new little boy, Rebar. >:D

Somebody never shut his mouth :D

Somebody don't have pliers~~~~   :climber:

Somebody don't have scissors~~~

Some tough guy pretend to be weak

let's look at the blade, the SAK seems much much more kind:

Second brother says: Who want a fight? huh? :twak:

Thanks for looking at my crazy post and that's it for the family boys. I wish I would get more members later if my wife don't yell at me. Visiting MTO everyday will eventually make me broke I believe~~~

Well, after playing with it for a few hours. I have a few questions:

1. The handles are super stiff. Is that normal? As long as it is operable, I don't think I will loosen the screws but it's really stiff to deploy and disengage the pliers. The pivot of the pliers is not stiff though, comfortable to operate.
2. The handles wiggle a bit when you squeeze it with force when the handle are closed. It's normal right? No wiggle when pliers stretched.
3 The PE blade seems not as sharp as I expected, is it normal? I know I can sharpen it on my own but I expected sharper when it is new. When the Surge was new, the PE blade was awfully sharp. I mean, it was really terribly sharp that I don't want to even touch the edge. When the Wingman was new, it wasn't that sharp but still super sharp they cut my fingers a few times. The Rebar now is... OK sharp... not dull at all but not that kind of scary sharp as the surge. How about yours when new? (no sign of used though)
4. Date code. No date code... is it normal for Rebar? I am buying through a small retail shop but it is very reputable. I don't think they sell knock off items but there is no date code. :-\

Thanks again for reading my post~~~

Great to have you in the club aurabattler. Really cool and fun post with the pics, I like the tools pointing to the others inadequicies haha. This thread needs good discussion about the tool we all love!

To answer a few of your questions; yes my rebar was stiff to open, in fact I would just open and close it open and close it over and over and that seemed to definitely help. Most all of my other leathermans are all easier to open in fact. But, with that said I haven't felt the need to tinker and loosen it. It has gotten to a point I am comfortable with and just took using it allot.

Regarding the blade, I feel the same. The blade is not factory sharp like others, or like maybe Leatherman once made? I even have a freestyle I used a ton from about 5 years ago maybe more, that was a partially serrated blade but way sharper from the get go!

I still love the rebar. The size and form factor are why I liked Leatherman to begin with (Supertool style). And the tools are near perfect for me to feel confident being prepared for while carrying. It could have some small upgrades however  :pok:  :D

What sheath do you guys use for rebar?  It comes with a cheap sloppy nylon velcro  sheath with a round shape bottom which I don't really like. The sheeth itself is too bulky.  It fits the bit kits and extention rods pretty well though.

This one.  Dislike.

I got the leather sheath with mine and that is what I use  It has held up very well in the several years I have used it :tu: The only wear on it really is the black has worn off some but it still seems very solid to me

I will be edcing the Rebar recently.  I am finding every chance to use it these two days and I have never imagine it can be so mighty at this size.  Great tool.  It fills my gap between my Wingman and Surge perfectly and even more.  It's more compact than the Wingman but it does more than the Wingman except the package opener and scissors. In my normal days I won't have hard jobs that has to be done by surge. I think the rebar can just handle my everything daily.  Only when real hard jobs are expected,  I'll take the Surge.  The Wingman will be in my weekend bag It is still a great and capable tool.

If you don't you the can opener a great deal it can be sharpened to become a package opener as well :tu:  Scissors can also be added to the Rebar and make it an even better tool  Those can be bought from loki-mobile down in the trade forums in the same thread as the maintenance wrenches

I think it has been long enough since the Rebar was released to determine it is definitely in the top 5 of my favorite Leatherman's of all time.
