So, yesterday I went for a family walk in the Ardennes.
To be more precise in a region we call in dutch "de Hoge Venen" or in french "les Hautes Fagnes" or in German "Hohes Venn" or in English "High Venn". This is a "large" (for us Belgians it's large, for Americans or Canadians I think it's not very impressive ...
) nature parc located in the east of Belgium, right next to the German border.
Most of this parc consists out of wet, swamp-like territory which goes back to the last ice-age, that's why most of the hikingtrails around there you walk on wooden trails, 50 cm above the ground.
All of us (me, my wife, my 2 sons, my brother and my parents) enjoyed it very much.
Anyway, pics say more than words, so here we go, hope you'll enjoy it
.
And yes, I did bring a multitool with me on this trip ... (more than one ...)
Beavers at work ... hadn't seen this in my country ...
The agony of choice ...
Afterwards, we went to the German town of Monschau, which is located about 5km east of the parc, here are some pics of this nice town:
So, I hope you enjoyed the pics, I know I had a great day there
.
Greetings from Belgium,
Eric
