The weather here was uncomfortable today. Strong wind and freezing rain. And what do the children want? Ice cream!
Now we have a family rule; there is only dessert when we had outdoor activity!
Well, in the neighboring village there is a farm that sells delicious, homemade ice cream and so we just walked to this farm.
In freezing rain and strong wind! To eat ice cream !!
When we finally got there we lay in the hay in the warm cowshed to warm up - and then we ate delicious ice cream.
Bit crazy but it was fun.

Great story and pics Peter  :tu:.

Sorry to hear about the long workdays...

Looks like you guys had about the same weather over there as we did yesterday, lots of wind, and cold rain/hail...

It's time for spring to start showing its face, I've had enough of the cold to be honest.

Thanks for sharing your pics here mate  :salute:.

Nice pics again everyone. Lovely guitar, Eric, I've always been a tad jealous of anyone who can play one, even badly!

Thank you, Eric.  :salute:
Fully agree. It's time for spring! One of the good things about the long, cold, gray season in our hemisphere is, that spring would not be half as beautiful without winter!

Thank you old Lefty.
Yes, the same Same as every year. (Since I was a kid)

Last week was a very special week, I bought two things that had been on my wanted list for years...

Both of them were available last week,  and both of them were a bit cheaper as normal (no extreme discount sadly enough, but since both items don't often come with a discount, I had to pull the trigger now...).

So, you guys have seen the Gibson, here's item number two:

Finally, a Victorinox automatic (an Airboss, to be more specific)  :D.

Hi Eric, congratulations on your great new addition! The dark blue with the brown leather ... timelessly beautiful!
Well, timeless sounds weird for a watch, but you know what I mean.  ;)

Thanks mate   .

Very excited about my Airboss, and I had a hard time choosing which version I would take, but in the end it was the classic timeless look of blue with brown leather that won  ;).

And who knows, maybe in the future I can get another version (did the same thing with my Casio Mudmaster), but I better make sure Misses TG-24 does not read this (I kinda promised to lay low for a while now... :-\).

Thanks for the beautiful pic my friend, great spring vibe in that pic... :D.

Perfect colours (red and white),and great timing  :tu:.

Thanks for sharing it here  :salute:.

Excellent. I do like my trains and that's a cracking photo. :tu:

I've hardly been out and about for a couple of weeks now, having to rest my foot due to an unknown injury. We're almost there though so hopefully I'll be able to contribute again shortly.

Got back outside for a walk this morning and took my new Huntsman along for the ride... In Avenham Park there's a Japanese Garden, added in the 1930s when it was a fashionable thing to have, and it's often the quietest bit of the park so it's a nice place to take SAK photos without scaring the locals...

More beautiful park pictures of you. Really nice to look at. Love this black ground camo scales.
My hometown also has some nice parks, it's just the weather or this corona thing that is keeping me away at the moment...

View over the landscape recently after work.

Beautiful pics Michael .

It might have been fashionable in the 30's, but I wouldn't mind a bit of Japanese garden in my backyard in 2021 either...

 :dd:

Looks like a nice relaxing place to spend some time and take SAK pics mate, and if it's the quietest bit of the park, it only gets better in my opinion  ;).

And Peter...

Always posting these "postcard pics"...

You guys have it all over there don't you, beautiful scenery, tons of old, vintage SAKs up for grabs... ;)

I was planning on winning the big Euro-Millions jackpot a couple of weeks ago, so I could move to Switzerland and spend my time searching for SAKs, but guess what?
Some Swiss dude won it!! :viking:

Anyway, until I win Euro-Millions, your pics will have to ease the pain, thanks for sharing your beautiful pics here my friend  :salute:.

Hey Eric, thanks for your kind words.  :hatsoff:
Yes, I've heard of the lucky swiss dude. I would have granted you it too!
Unfortunately, I have no chance of winning at euromillions.

Speaking of tons of old vintage SAKs...,
today I drove to an old man who offered me a box of saks for sale. There was a nice castle in the place, unfortunately I didn't have time to look for a good photo spot, that is the less beautiful back of the castle.  :dunno:

Anyway, Burgdorf, Switzerland.

Cheers gents. When winter rolls round again I'll take a few more, see if you still think the same.

I tried to go back in on Sunday, but it was far busier and it was one of those days where people seem to think the pandemic has gone. :twak:

What a beautiful scenery, how I would love to visit those places one day...

Maybe I should re-think that Euro-Millions plan, and buy residences in both Switzerland and New-Zealand, and switch between the two (and enjoy the eternal summer  :dd:).

Thank for sharing your beautiful pictures here mate, I really appreciate it  :salute:.

Since I'm working the morning shift this week,  we had the chance to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather yesterday by going on a walk near our home.

We went to a small town called Gestel, a pittoresk place, with a beautiful town square,  with a small church (where our 3 children were baptised), a presbytery, and an old pillor.

You can find a wiki page about Gestel here, the Wikipage is only available in Dutch, so I guess you guys will have to use Google translate.

The river "Grote Nete" runs about 50m behind the church,  so we started at the townsquare, and from there we continued our walk on the banks of the river.

Overlooking the fields in the direction of the village of Gestel.

Same spot, but the view on the river.

The town square.

The church.

The graveyard.

A memorial, commemorating "de boerenkrijg", translated as "Peasant's Revolt" or "Peasant's War"  click here for more info.

Hope you guys enjoyed the pics and the historical background of a part of my hometown ;).

Nice to see new outdoor pictures of you, Eric.  :tu:
Gestel looks like a nice, peaceful place. And spring seems to be further with you than with us.
But the next few days in Winterthur there will be 22 ° C and not a cloud!   :ahhh

Another great pic Peter  :tu:.

Just looked up Brienz in Google earth (because I had the idea that I'd seen that church before), and I noticed "Meiringen Flugplatz" to the east of Brienz.

That's when I knew we had probably passed through Brienz the same day we visited Meiringen (and the Aareschlucht near Meiringen).

The same day I found my NIB Swisschamp XL (well, actually it was Misses TG-24 who found it), and the Snow and Blaze Rangers for me and my oldest son.

Great memories  :dd:.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful pic my friend  :hatsoff:.

Hello Eric. Thank you. It's a nice church, but the the photo quality is terrible!

Yes, Brienz is near Meiringen. Meiringen airfield is a base for the Swiss Air Force, sounds impressive when the fighter jets thunder through the valleys.

I love the area around Lake Brienz. What a coincidence that my Belgian friend also has such beautiful memories of this area! Get on an old paddle steamer in Thun (for me the most beautiful ships in the world) and drive over both lakes to Brienz ...
Or with the Brienzer Rothornbahn to the Rothorn summit ...
Or the Grandhotel Giessbach at this beautiful waterfall. 21 years ago I surprised my girlfriend and today's wife with an overnight stay in this special hotel.

Another time we camped on Lake Brienz and came back completely overheated from a strenuous mountain tour. We bathed in the lake and didn't want to get out of the water at all. In the end we took the table and chairs into the shallow water on a gravel bank. We sat in the water until late at night, making bacon on the gas stove, melting cheese and toasting bread ...
