We slit them just because we can!  :D ;)

These are cervelat sausages, the traditional Swiss national sausage. Many decorate them. X-cuts are ideal around the campfire (almost obligatory). The sausage sticks well to the wooden skewer and if you are almost starving you can nibble on the tips before the sausage is ready. Some say it looks like a suckling pig.

Hello my friends,

First of all, my apologies for my long absence.  It's not that I didn't check in from time to time (this topic is always full of good vibes, and it is still one of the best "virtual trips" one can make) but I just didn't have the time, energy or state of mind to post something myself.

My family and I have seen some rough times for the past two years or so,  and it drains all the energy out of your body just to keep going...

Anyway, trying to crawl back up again, I thought this topic would be a good place to start doing a bit of fun stuff again.

So, where do I begin?

It has not all been bad, I'll start with an awesome giveaway from SOG Knives & Tools Europe that I won.  After already getting an awesome SOG Stout knife from the awesome people at SOG last Christmas (thanks to Nick "Mechanickal" for nominating me for that giveaway), they were giving away a special version of their SOG Bowie 2.0, this one was laser etched with the signature from SOG founder Spencer Frazer, and it came with a hand signed note from him as well.  To join the giveaway you had to share a personal story about SOG, so I did.  And to my surprise, I won...

The nice people from SOG told me this was not a true limited edition, but since Spencer Frazer only did 5 of these, right before he retired, it's safe to say there are only 5 of these out there, and I now own number 4 😁.

Needless to say that this brought some colour to the otherwise dark days we have been going through, thank you SOG,

I've hardly been on here much myself, lately. I've hardly been online full stop. Life has just been a bit much lately and I needed a break.

Lovely photos from all, though! Hopefully I'll be able to share a few more photos myself fairly soon.

Thanks for the kind words my friend, we'll get through this eventually, it's just very exhausting since our problems are always there for the moment, 24/7, so we never seem to get a break...

The SOG Bowie, that put a smile on my face for the first time in months.  It's already a beautiful knife by itself, but being laser etched and the hand signed note make it a true collectors piece.  I'm sure there are SOG Collectors out there who would give a kidney for it... :D

I'm forcing myself to get out of the house again, trying to enjoy the outdoors (and some needed sunshine) again.

So sorry to learn of issues you and family is struggling with and understand the importance to place family first 

I too had a difficult 2021, and have just recently been able to start functioning again. 

I must share though, one of your countryman, a young man about twenty two or so just made visit to our family's cousins, returning their father's DOG TAGS, he had lost when in Belgium during WWII Battle of the Bulge he had found at a battle site with his metal detector.  In fact he was visiting multiple families in the U.S. doing the same.   Was strange two set of dog tags were from men that lived about 5 miles apart here in NE Indiana.   The young man represented Belgium very well  :tu:

Great story about the Dog Tags, I'm a metal detector user myself (though I haven't used it for several years now).

Beautiful pics as always my friend  :o.  Thanks for keeping the lights on while I was away  :salute:.

We're trying to spend more time in the outdoors again, one step at a time...

Last Friday, the Misses and I both had the early shift at work, and the evening before we decided we would take a trip to the coast, after work the following day (our little girl really wanted to see the sunset at the coast, but the past year or so, we never found the energy or the time to drive to the coast,  until now  ;)).









We had an awesome time,  even though the windchill was terrible at the end of the day, the three of us sitting on the beach, covered by a way too small picnic blanked, our little girl sitting between the Misses and myself, all 3 of us cold,  but enjoying every second of it  :D.

Misses TG-24 had to work last weekend, time for some father-daughter time  :D. 

We went on a small hike near our home on sunday, taking the time to shoot some pics of both our EDC setups, playing around with a Topomap and a compass, just enjoying the sun and the outdoors...

And about the colours...  What can I say?  Girls will be girls I guess  ;).

We've bought the exact same setup (be it in different colours) for our two boys years ago.  A "My First SAK" with a Silva Metro compass, which, despite its simple look, is a real nice piece of EDC kit, and a true Silva.

That's actually a road with tram tracks, i can see why it looks like a circuit though, there's signs lining the route for the current Vivid festival
Right in front is Circular Quay with ferry wharves (hidden from view), on top is a freeway they're talking about making into a High Line type of thing, and underneath the railway.
The views from both are about the best views in Sydney so makes sense to get rid of them but will likely be 20+ years
