Hey Peter,

What a restoration  .  It always pleases me to see an old, broken knife being restored like that, awesome job.  The G and K on the spring, are those to remember which blade was on which side (groß / klein)?  I'm just guessing here...  .

Here's a pic of my Citizen Eco-Drive Diver, taken after I dropped the little one of at school.



I really love my Victorinox and Seiko watches, but this one offers a lot of watch for a small budget (just like some of my "cheaper" G-Shocks).

It's the perfect EDC watch, cheap enough not to overly worry about it, durable, accurate and still having a classic Diver look.

@AzteC: The red one is almost new, a lucky find. Someone has restored the two with horn shells so well that they are more perfect than when they were fresh from the factory.

Have you already figured out which strap you prefer on your Seiko?

Recently I was in Tübingen, a pretty little German town.
There I discovered a small, very public place... well the older ones probably still know what it is...
Seems to be used extensively...

At the moment I went for the standard clasp on my new Seiko, it just looks more "well balanced" with the rest of the watch and bracelet, and feels more comfortable with the rounded edges.

The other clasp is a bit too square and bulky, but if the swelling of my wrist turns out to be a problem, it's nice to know that I can always put that one on  and adjust the strapsize on the go with the ratchet thingy.

I didn't had a cell phone for the first 21 years of my life - how did I survive that?!  ...Well, looking back pretty good   

I remember those pay phones very well, for 60 Rappen (swiss centimes) you could make a 30 second phone call. As a child, I really regretted that
and rather run home than spend my money on a few words call.

Those Alox Soldiers/Pioneers offer so much tool in such a small and discreet size, and they also make such a nice gift.

I own birth year Soldiers for each member of my family, a '77 for me, '78 for the Misses, '05 for our oldest son, '06 for our youngest son, and a purple 2016 Limited Edition Pioneer for our little girl (since they no longer issued the Alox soldiers to the Swiss troops back in '16).

Anyway, enough of my rambling, thanks for the, beautiful pic, and just so you know, you can also post scenery shots without a tool or SAK on them.

Well, I bought the blank blade already hardened and with a very rough finish. I wet sanded it from Scandi to Convex, rounded the back bit more to  drop point, made the handle scales out of robinia wood and glued all together with brass pins. Absolutely simple knife, but every time I pick it up and do something, it just feels right.


@ AzteYypher: Just a fiddling quirk of mine.
 I take a piece of branch and carve it down artlessly.

Thanks John. You say it, self-made is most likely to bring satisfaction    (that's how I experience it)

Today it happened! 
I saw my watch in a store with almost 50% discount. I've been waiting for this for a long time!

My attempts to take a nice photo of it just failed. Pretty tricky with the reflections in a room with a ceiling light. I'll try it on the weekend when I'm home in daylight.

As a distraction, a pic with a daily dose of fresh raw milk from the farmer next door. Like most of my usual surroundings on the outskirts of my hometown Winterthur.

Oh man... haven't had fresh milk since I was a kid.  We used to raise goats when I was a kid so we had fresh goat milk.

So gentlemen, my new watch, the first and perhaps only mechanical watch in my life. 

I've known for about two months that I would buy exactly this one. Of all the watches that match my criteria, this is the one I like best! 
The dealer is an official Hamilton representative with its own watchmaker. The first revision is already planned for February 2023   

I still have to find the optimal strap for me, something is on the way.
Really tried to take nice pictures, but somehow I didn't really succeed.
I couldn't capture the play of light on the sunburst dial and all the reflections in the domed crystal almost drove me crazy... 
no matter, here she is: 











Totally fell in love with it! My leisure watch that from now on reminds me to appreciate the time I still have.

What a stunning timepiece you have there my friend, that's a true classic beauty  .

Congratulations on finding the watch you wanted, and the fact that you got a good deal on it makes it even more special.

I know how hard it can be to catch the beauty of a watch in a pic, everything has to fall into place, the right light, the right angle,...  I've taken hundreds of pictures of my watches and deleted hundreds as well  .

It's a real beauty my friend, a timeless design.  I think it shares a bit of DNA with my Victorinox Airboss, big and very readable dial, date window on the 6 position (which is always a bit more fancy as on the 3 or 4 position, in my humble opinion).  But it is more dressy, where the Airboss has more of a fieldwatch vibe.

I think it looks awesome  .

And I could spend hours just watching the movement doing its thing, how I love mechanical watches...

Yes, there really are some parallels to your nice Airboss.  Victorinox uses Sellita movements, right? Mine has an ETA. Both movements have proven themselves over a long time and often, any watchmaker can revise them, get spare parts and, if necessary, the entire movement inexpensively. That was important to me.
I always wonder why the date is so rarely at 6 o'clock, the dial looks more symmetrical which just looks more harmonious (for me)

Yes, it's a classic dress watch, but I don't care. As long as diving watches can be worn without a diving suit  and pilot's watches without a pilot's license  , I feel free to wear my dress watch for walks in the forest, flea market tours, mountain hikes, playing with Lego and whatever.
This will just be my free time watch.
