So anybody else have a long weekend?

Best frikin idea this week was taking friday off, so along with the public holiday (pentecost) on monday,
 I just started a 4 day weekend...   :D

We're having 25 degrees (77F) here and at least the next 5 days it will be sunny without a cloud in sight, so the plan is to
go to the beach for the first time this year tomorrow..  8) 8)

I'm off Friday, Sunday, and Monday.  Friday and Sunday are my regular days off, Monday is Memorial Day here in the US.  I don't mind working Saturdays, it's usually a bit of a goof off day, and the bosses buy lunch.  The Saturday before a holiday should be dead at the store.  :tu:

Borrowed a motorcycle at work, I'll be riding to the in-laws tomorrow evening and back monday afternoon.
That'll be an almost 600 kilometres round trip with a total of about nine hours in the saddle (girlfriend and stepdaughter will follow by car).
With a nice weather forecast, I'm looking forward to riding in the highlands/mountains again...

I actually managed to get this weekend off, but only Friday and Saturday.  First time in 5 years I've had Memorial day weekend off.  I drank so much last night that I just woke up at 2pm(I had been up for 30 hours by the time I went to sleep, with more beer than blood in me).  More planned for tonight, but it's back to work tomorrow at 3pm, and an overnight on monday.  Party on!!

Damn it!  I get home from work today, don't have to be anywhere until Tuesday AM - and it's pouring.  With scattered T-storms forecast all weekend and on through Thursday.  >:(  Ah well.

Tomorrows semi rest, but Monday were going to another cookout, all I know is IM NOT COOKING!  JR

The rain has held off today so far, and it's beautiful out for the first time in two weeks.  Decided to relax a bit outside with a nice cigar and a book, also working on a lanyard for the Wenger SI I picked up on Friday.  Flip the page, and there's Jacky Fisher staring at me.  Even 100 years after that pic was taken, the look on his face seems to say, "Quit messing around and get that project done!"  :)

Went backpacking with my wife this weekend on the Tuolumne River.  Started off on Sat. morning, came back Mon. evening.  Her mom was nice enough to watch the kids for us the whole time.   :tu:

We were just below Hetch Hetchy the whole time.  The river was fantastic and beautiful.  We filtered our water, and I was surprised at the difference in taste it had compared to the Merced River, which we've camped and hiked several times in the past few years.  In a word, the water was some of the best I've ever tasted.

We navigated with USGS topo maps, and used Nat-Geo maps for info.  One of the trails we took, from the Lumsden campground to the confluence with the Clavey River was much different than the description we had.  Much more up and down and switchbacks than indicated by the map.  There was also a long section that hadn't seen any maintenance in at least a year if not more, and we had to bushwhack through that part.  (I'm researching machetes today!

There was a LOT of poison oak there as well, but I was able to avoid most of it.  After washing well and taking other preventive measures, I only have a few small spots of it here and there.  My wife has a patch on her right arm, and a few tick bites, but overall we came through it pretty well, and had a great time.   :)
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.
