You've been hiking again, John. 8)

Very nice of you to take the new guy sightseeing. :D
Of course the new guy had to come, huntsman has been climbing so many mountains someone else needed some outdoor time. :)

Nice pics John :tu:
I go there a lot and love it. So I just made one my avatar; I finally have an avatar! And there were a bunch of people there today who probably thought I was a weirdo for taking pictures of a knife.

That's a great avatar pic :tu:  I would love that scenery for hiking.

Hey I was in NY twice last year actually, but just to visit the wife's sister and her family.  In the Rome area, not sure if you know that area.

Knife laws are not good in NY. The ones in Canada are better.

NY does have some stricter laws than other states but unless you are talking about NYC there are really no knife regulations whatsoever. Switchblades are illegal, that's all I can think of.

And Monrogue, I know the Rome area but not very well. I know Utica better which is nearby.

Took my Soldier on a day trip. It saw rain, mist, fog and the first snow of the season!

First picture: A "Swiss Cross" as viewed from the air.
Second picture: A "Snow Soldier" ready for action.

OK,  so these are cell phone photos, all taken today at a small park I stopped at on the way home.  The SAK with me today was an old explorer.

not bad for a cell phone camera,   :tu:   one day I hope to get a DSLR.   :D

a few SAK pics include a Leatherman.

If I can help, let me know

thank you,  I thought it was very nice!  it is a big tree, so it worked well not allowing the sun to blind my camera

According to Wikipedia:

Quote
Any fixed knife containing a blade length of 15 cm or more requires permission from the prefectural public safety commission in order to possess. Permission requirements also apply to any type of pocket knife over 6 cm (including Automatic Knives), spears over 15 cm in blade length, and Japanese halberds. All knives with a blade length over 6 cm are prohibited from being carried, under a crime law, with an exception for carrying for duty or other justifiable reasons. There is a penalty of up to 2 years prison or up to a ¥300000 yen fine.

Hmm, and it seems (don't know about reliability of the sources) the Wenger large blade on 85mm knives is 6,4 cm. So, be careful ;)

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a place to take my Pocket Tool Chest. Wonder about buying a knife and taking it back to the hotel?

Bought a "Driver" today, which is basically an economy Recruit with nylon scales. I believe this name is just a Canadian thing as seems to be listed at Canadian Tire and MEC as a Driver, which I have never heard of.

Caught this picture tonight as the sun set.
