Whatcha got?

I bought a 5 inch Samsung tablet 'bout a month ago. I looks like a big phone so bringing it to work is not a problem. Battery life is awesome on it. I get about 3 days of constant playtime before it needs a charge..words with friends, drawsomething, downloads and netflix/crackle.

Today i picked up a verizon/wi-fi Samsung 7 inch tablet for dirt cheap. This one will prob reside on the coffee table for playing around on. Doubt i'll activate the verizon as it is redundant with an android phone i have.

I bought a couple of those invisishield screen protectors to keep them from being scratched.

They are excellent time wasters  ::)

iPad here. It is a first gen and I am it's third owner (father in law, wife). However it is a great bit of kit which means the computers in the house are pretty much redundant now.

We have a 32gig Playbook.  We mainly bought it for the kids for in the car on road trips to keep them busy.

I'm really not a huge fan of it, but we got a heck of a deal on it.

iPad 2. It's mine, not the kid's!

I'm still waiting for another tablet to hit the shelves that compares. I wish RIM would get their smurf together before Waterloo becomes a ghost town...

I hear ya there!  The Playbook has great potential, but RIM is holding it back with their slower than a Snail updates.

If I was the guys at RIM I think I would sell out to Google so that the units all run with a complete Android suite while the company was still worth something.  Then use the Google money to develop better handsets to stay solvent/relevant.

But, I suppose RIM isn't interested in making good choices.... after all, BB was the absolute king of Smartphones for a long time, and if they had the foresight to build an app store I doubt there would be an iOS or Android now- and if they did exist they'd both be behind Blackberry.

As for tablets, I have a Velocity Cruz that I picked up super cheap.  As soon as I got it I found out why- the screen is almost completely useless.  I can deal with it's slowness and old OS, but the inability to use a touch screen on a touchscreen device means it's basically just a digital photo frame.

Toshiba thrive here.. A bit large on the dimensions size but for 199 on black Friday.. Well worth it.. Added a 32 gig sd for the music and videos since it's only 8 gig.. Still plenty of space on the 8

I'm considering an iPad for work.  I'd rather have a Droid tablet but the common form factor of the iPad means there are a lot better and tougher water and weatherproof cases for the iPad than any Androids.

Um lets see, my wife started with a I-pod, and i wanted something but the pod was to dang small, so i got a no-name 7" tablet, and my wife ended up getting a I-pad 2nd gen, after a while even the 7" was driving me nuts, to dang small, and even coming on here to read was hurting my eyes, so i ended up getting a refurbished I-pad 2nd gen, perfect for me! couldn't ask for anything better..  JR

That would he awesome but you've seen what my job does to a Leatherman without a case- how do you think an unprotected tablet would hold up?

Until/unless someone comes up with a waterproof case for an Android I'm afraid I'll have to consider the ipad.

http://www.amazon.com/OtterBox-Defender-Samsung-Galaxy-Black/dp/B005GLJJG4

i'm sure the google tablet, as hyped as it is, will have quite a few accessories for it.

not near as many as that ole ipad though  :P

Do you need physical protection? If not you can just drop it in one of those soft waterproof cases from MEC.

Yeah, I do need major protection.  One of those baggies simply wouldn't cut it I'm afraid.

The Otters have something new on the way...

http://www.otterbox.com/armor-series/armor-series,default,pg.html

They sponsored the kayak team at the recent Teva games. It looks to be aimed at iPhone 4S at this stage but I am hoping to see this range across a broad range of devices.

I have a BQ Galileo - http://www.bqreaders.com/gb/products/galileo.html

It's ok, considering it was cheap, but I don't use it for media, more as a google search pad for when we're on the sofa. It does run most of the remote software I use for both XBMC and my Panasonic TV. Battery life is pretty bad when the wifi is on, but I leave it plugged in and wifi off most of the time when I'm not using it. I also find it to be sluggish in general, but I've had it for ages now... there's probably loads of better tablets for cheap now, but I can't be bothered to replace it while this one still works.

I just checked out of curiosity and the manufacturer has an official ICS (4.0.3) update for my tablet... so just upgraded from 2.3.1! ICS seems very quick, the shame is that my Motorola Defy is STILL stuck on Froyo 2.2.0 and could probably use a lot of the tweaks that ICS has to offer... :(

Nexus 7 tablet?

I like the look of it, but can't really justify spending money on a new tablet while mine is still alive...

5 inch is my take to work..leech of their wifi on break and lunch watching netflix, crackle, pandora, words with friends, betting on stuff, using google to prove it tablet. 5 inch looks like a big phone so it doesnt attract attention being in an electronics store overnight.
