Wenger combination tool + locking blade?
on: January 12, 2014, 12:26:28 PM
Is this combination a unicorn?

If you look for a Wenger with this combination of tools in the sakselector, it gives you only the result of the "Junior 02".

You can find a few more results in the internet with the same combination, even in a Wenger page (http://www.wenger.ro/evogrip-64-1-064-049-821/index.html). Sometimes the description fits the picture.

All the results are tipical catalog pictures, photoshop edited, so I'm getting skeptic. I thing it may be just a mistake with all the pictures they had to edit for the catalogs. I can't find any real picture of a Wenger with locking blade plus combination tool.

So, that's what I'm wondering. I think the kind of spring that's necessary for locking blade plus combo tool doesn't exist (it has to be special, is not the regular one because the locking feature of the screwdriver). But maybe, as an easy solution, Wenger did special combo tools with no locking feature to install it on the regular spring for locking blades.

Well, did anybody see, or does anybody have ;), the unicorn?

Thanks in advance and excuse any mistake with the language!

Its a Junior 02 I think.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Yes, the problem is that, in any real picture of that knife or others with the supposed combination, locking blade or combo tool disappears. Never together.

Junior 02, in SAKWiki:

The info in my notes says the Junior 02 is available in versions both with and without a lock. My version is lacking the lock. Wouldn't be the first time Wenger's done two different versions of a knife under the same name. However a quick run through my notes doesn't turn up any other knife with the combo tool and a lock, so maybe it's a chimera.

The 2005 catalog is the only one to show the lock.
See picture attached.
Last reference I found was in the 2007 catalog, so this knife was probably discontinued from the 2008.
Also note that the catalog number changed from 1.559.08 in 2006 to 1.559.09 in 2007.
Apparently in 2007 toothpick and tweezer were added.

Have one of the Unicorn's brother....I can't remember the number. ColoSwiss told me but I've slept since then.

I found it...it's just the Junior. ColoSwiss owns the one in the Wiki.

Here's the info from the wiki.

That looks like a great kid's knife, but apparently is a rare model.

Beat me to it.   :ahhh   I'm assuming its part of the Junior line, but don't have an official name.
