I know some of you have custom built spanners for performing surgery on your LM tools, but has anyone had success overcoming the recessed screws to take a Rebar apart with standard tools? If so what did you use?

Needle nose plier, two of them, heating the pins helps a LOT to undo the loctite. Slow and steady pressure.

The THIN disc is the screw to undo, the THICK disc is the post.

Hope that helps

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the bugger!

I finally got my Fuse apart, so will be doing my first LM mod soon too :D

I had an extremely easy time using a LM Crunch (or other small visegrips) on the thick disk and a small, new set of lineman's pliers on the screwhead (use the flat tips, not the side). This way you can maintain inward pressure as you twist to ensure that you maintain a hold on both sides.  I didn't event have to heat them up...

I used two other Leatherman pliers (both Charges) to take it apart, after heating the screws/posts as Metropolicity suggested.  I don't have a butane torch or anything, but a Zippo lighter was more than sufficient to heat them.

The fasteners holding the pliers look easy to get too , the fasteners holding the tools look a bit tricky to get a hold off with the way the handle is shaped around them  .
Keen to hear how you go Al  :pok:

Project is on hold for the time being Mat. Undecided which direction to go with loadout, or whether to just let it go as is
