Any info on this knife?
on: July 01, 2012, 02:13:51 AM
I got it as a gift about 5 years ago. I don't ever remember using it. I just want to find out the specifics of the knife like blade material and possible value. I am considering using it as a hunting/fishing knife if it does not have any real value. I assume the name on the handle is the artist who painted it? Any info on this knife would be greatly appreciated.

Looks cool to me.  Never heard of Linda Petree but google pointed me here.  She's from Alaska.

IIRC Muela do a good job of working with 440-something steel. :tu:
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Didn't Muela make some fixed blades for Victorinox a while back?  Seems to me Vic toyed with the idea of some fixed blade outdoor type knives a while ago that were almost impossible to get your hands on, and I'm pretty certain they were made by Muela.

There were a few threads about it in the old SOSAK forum at KF bust since those are hidden to non members I found this reference at Bladeforums:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/515703-Victorinox-Fixed-Blade

There's not a lot of info anywhere that I've found about them, but it does exist.  The knives were sold in certain markets and obscure catalogues and I'm pretty certain they never hot the North American markets, although I think there may have been some Victorinox/Bear Cutlery folders produced when Vic owned them.

That's rather interesting; I remember seeing a B&S folder + Classic SD combo pack (to mimic the B&S Mini Bear Jaws + Classic SD combo pack and Classic SD + Inova/Classic SD + Maglite Solitaire combo packs), but I never knew about those.  That's really cool. :tu:

I can't help you much there.  I will say this though- if it works for you and you like it, go for it.

Victorinox master catalog shows some Manufacturas Muela Knives, but this are the "Alce" series, not exactly the top of the line.

Usually in Latinamerica, Victorinox and Muela are distributed together.
