my old Powerlock (RIP     ) had a dented cutter due to trying to cut something I thought it would cut, but the steel was too soft.
Hopefully you can appreciate the dent in the pics

Hi guys!! My powerlock is at home!! i've just a question for you: is normal that the little pieces that covers the compound system moves a little bit? When i pull out from the blister it seems that they were rock solid, but now after a few flick they moves a little.. i've to ask amazon for a change or is all ok?

Here the new baby!! Really funny to play with her, but i spotted a few imperfections and i don't know if is normal or not...
The needlenose points pf the pliers are slightly not aligned...
the spring on the 1/4 inch socket drive fall off too often, but i can fix it...
the lock of the tools isn't so smooth and solid as the Leatherman one, but it works well...
As i told in a previous post, the little pieces that covers the compound system moves a little bit...
The scissors are really useless... worst scissors ever seen, i'll probably swap with the v-cutter (that seems way better).

Your powerlock are perfect? Or you have my same problems too?
The overall impression is good, but i really would know if my exemplar is defective or if sog quality control standard is...this...

being the owner of 6 SOGs, and 3 more that I don't have anymore...it is normal   :D
All SOG scissors are bad, ugly and work very bad for most things.
Their tools are usually smooth as butter but the implements and their locks are often gritty, hard to use and don't always lock properly, they fail under force much sooner than Leatherman locks in my experience.
Both my Powerlocks had locking issues (those drivers bit me more than once under pressure when the locks disengaged)

The spring in the 1/4th driver is usually solid (on 3 of my 4 SOGs that have it) but on one of my PL it also fell with alarming ease
And as for the alignment, many tools from all brands (yes, Victorinox, LM and Gerber too) have that mis-alignment and unless it's something horrendous and blatant I wouldn't worry much.
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

Nothing that could compromise the full functionality of the pliers... and nothing that i can' fix with a diamond stone... i've already fixed the spring on the 1/4 inch drive using a little piece of heat shrink tubing... now i want to sharp the can opener to use it as a pack opener... if you have any other little mod to suggest, talk!

They are not. The tell tell is the switch from 1/4 bolts to allen key screws. US models had 1/4 screws.
Some allen key screw versions were US, but the only tell tell is the plier head. If it is not engraved USA, it is most likely not US made. However, with that said, the quality is very close. :tu:

On the plus side, SOG PowerLock MTs didn't suffer much when they changed country of origin. So that's a BIG plus. :)
Congrats on the BO PowerLock! They are a real workhorse and look quite nice as well! :)

Some nice Powerlocks pictured here!

Been on the lookout for what I believe is a transitional Powerlock. USA handles/frames with non-USA(possibly) redesigned plier head. Plus the SOG going around the pivot is cool. :)
Finally found one for cheap.  :woohoo: Pictured next to the USA marked Powerlock and pictures with some of the SOG stable.
