Might as well post a pic of my actual powerlocks. Sorry about the poor image quality.

Black oxide modern powerlock with the cog covers.

Satin older powerlock(more blunt pliers) without the covers. Replaced the file with the wire strippers.

Family shot. The leather sheath came with the satin powerlock, the nylon with the BO ones. Use the molle with the black and the nylon with the satin. Leather is kept in storage.

How well does that wire stripper work ? I have thought about getting one to swap in and out, as needed, or when I think I will need it. . . .

Pretty poorly. Because of the compound gears on the sog, using the cutters is more finicky(Hard to gauge how much pressure is going to the wire, so cutting the entire thing off rather than just splitting the shielding off is a guessing game) so i felt like i needed them. Honestly, if i were to re-do my buy id get a straight edge blade instead, and buy a cheap pair of wire strippers at H&F.

They really have horrible ergonomics, and if the cutters are closed with enough pressure(which isnt very hard) the smallest gauge stripper turns into a cutter.

The wire stripper tool  works OK from what I hear. There are actually at least two different wirestripper tools. The one shown previously, double sided and the simpler one shown below:

I just realised I am a member of this one but never posted!

I picked up one of those great ex-military BO Powerlocks ages ago... I'm pretty sure I messed with the tools a bit, but essentially I use it in my tool bag for the compound leverage. Hardly ever use the other tools in it, but it earns it's keep with the pliers alone to be honest :tu:

As I mentioned in another thread, I considered selling mine but recently those pliers have been far too useful. I'm now considering overhauling the loadout including possibly sacrificing another PST II for the scissors and diamond file. I originally did that for a Paladin PT-510 but that's since disappeared

she's a beauty ok although i think she was the first one to be pictured here, and she's been around a bit (lots of members have had her), she's still in fabulous nick and i might spend some money on her and get her some now tools and maybe a leather jacket.

I'M IN !

I sort of lost the password of my previous account, but anyhow.. just to say that the PL is growing on me.
The pliers are really good, and I seem to care a little less for the clunky tools. When I really need them, they're here and they work. And most of the time, i just need the (awesome) pliers.

Also, i don't edc that stuff.. if I did, i wouldn't like the clunky tools still.

my powerlock has exchangeable wire cutters  :ahhh

Ok, as most of you know, I cheated ;-) Too bad the head is a little too small for it. It "almost" works hehe.

Regardless, I've been using my wave, charge tti, rebar, recharge, and regular pliers.. and despite my initial comments on the powerlock, guess what.
I always look for my powerlock. It's actually my most useful multi right now. Yep some things are a little worse than my other multi, but not much of a problem.

So, despite the little issues, I'm feeling like Sog got something right and its not just the plier gears :)
