Build your own custom BM Griptilian!
on: July 16, 2012, 11:39:35 PM
IT'S BACK.

They had this program a few years ago, and I know some of the folks here regretted not getting one then.

I just saw this link.

I can't afford one ATM, but it was fun creating one just so :D

I expect it will be a very cold day somewhere before we see that come back.

I only one Benchmade and I never really thought about buying another until now.  :gimme:

I would build

Full size

Neon green left
Black right
Sheepsfoot Ps
S30v
Black axis
Black liners
Black screws
Black split arrow clip
Caution Sharp on the front of the blade
JAfromMn on the back

It was fun to build one and for 145$

getting a 1 off Grip it's Very tempting.

There no way ill afford it but I can

Darn I got three BM Griptilians at the PX in 2007 for $150 (OD, Tan, Black).  Prices have gone up.

For that much money I think there are too many better choices to go with one. Then again paying premium for a different skin isn't my thing.

This guy explained it better than I can, but for most people there probably isn't much of a difference.  :P Never used that n680 stuff, supposedly very corrosion resistant, probably not useful unless it's soaking in salt water or sweat everyday.

Oh you can add text AND images... Ironically the customizing is what makes me want one, but also made it impossible for me to click add to cart quickly since I want to think alot about what to add....

For me I'd pick...

Orange scales
Plain Edge
Satin
Sheepsfoot / Thumb Hole
S30V
Split Arrow Silver clip
All other parts silver

Hmmmm do I 'need' it though?

I got this email from Benchmade too. What a cool looking program and idea. I sure would like to see Spyderco do this with the Delica. Keep all the colors they have, toss in a few more, black oxide or ss hardware and clips, saber or ff grind, zdp 189 or vg10 blade steel, plain edge, partially serrated, or spydie edge. Just my opinion, but I think they would be great sellers. Not knocking BMs either, I own a dozen or so. Recently aquired the black blade and ss blade crimson mini grips .  I mean, didn't Benchmade copy the spydie hole a little before the patent expired, or whatever it was that happened. Anyway SPYDERCO...take a hint. Benchmade has a great idea here, maybe they play well with others and they will share.

The regular old Griptillian and miniGriptillian MSRP is around $100 to $110.  This doesn't seem anexcessively expensive option...

...or is it?

From MSRP?  No

But who pays MSRP?  Even in Canada we can get min 20% under on Benchmade.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!! They would have to include the Endura as well as the Delica so I could get one of each.    :tu:   :D

Add me to that list as well!   :tu:

An S30V Stretch 2 in carbon fiber with a wire clip is the first thing that comes to my mind...
