Another Giveaway!
on: July 20, 2012, 08:13:52 PM
This competition is now finished.  Thanks to everyone who took part. :)

Yes you read it right, we do indeed have more stuff to pass on to our loyal members. :tu:  This on is for a chance to win a CRKT "Tool".

For some more pictures and Grant's thoughts have a look here.

So "how do I enter" I hear you ask?  Good question. ;)  All you need do is post a picture of your favourite NON-pliers based Multitool and tell us what's so good about it.  All entrant's name will go in a hat and randomly selected on Wednesday 25th July.

No-one?  No SAK fans?  No one piece tool fans?  Guess I'll keep this one for myself then.

Well I love my Soldier and carry/use it every day.  The blade takes a great edge, and the can opener works great.  The big flat driver/bottle opener can be used for light prying (used it to pry the old stereo out of the car) and to open a cold one at the end of the day.

I love the overall fit and finish, and think this is a hard tool to beat.

My Buck FDX Rescue tool is my favorite. How ever I do not use it , but it was signed by CJ Buck CEO of Buck Knives. Notice the #1 on it CJ said it was the first FDX he ever signed. I do not really have any need for a rescue tool but I liked it so I got one.

The Klein 10 in 1 then later 11 in 1 has been an edc staple for many years at work and home. It compliments all the plier based MT's I own. A definate trip saver more times than I can count.

Light oiling every now and then keeps the bits, nut drivers and shafts working smooth and rust free. Never broke a bit or stripped out a nut driver shaft torquing on it in anger. Never had an issue with the tool. Three is a good number to own.

Here's my favourite non-plier based tool:

Light duty pry bar, wrench, slotted screwdriver, hex-bit screwdriver compatible, ruler, paperweight, knife (if you grind the edge down), blunt object weapon, etc.  Is there anything a pocketwrench can't do?  :D  It's also very compact. I carry mine in the elastic pocket of my Charge sheath.

Just a quick question, I see some entries with Vic Sak's that have pliers, is this ok? If so, I really like this Hercules:

Here is mine.....I love the 111mm One-hand SAK's, and this Rescue tool is basically great knife,  good color, very good tools, an perfect one hand knife. I just replace the original red pouch for a black one.
The picture also include my son (2.5 year old) favorite's multitool, and the good for this is the spoon...

LM Micra.

Power and strength in a small package.
Solid, cheap (TSA...) discreet.
I have performed many minor repairs with it that I would not dare to do with a smaller SAK.
And the scissors....  :salute:  :salute:

Humm...those don't really count as pliers do they? ;)  Seriously, I'm not worried.  They might indeed have pliers but I don't think we can say that they are based around the pliers.

This little feller has been carried for a few years now pretty much everyday. If I have my house keys on me, I also have my Utilikey. It's the most unobtrusive multitool I own and has saved the day numerous times.

The original Boy Scout Knife. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the modern MT or SAK, but it was my first multiool.

Thanks for another Give-a-way, Here's my Spartan  :salute:

When I brought him at a carboot sale he had had a very hard life  :( Someone had ground the blades with a grinder  :twak:

First go at making wood scales (Iroko) after re-profiling the blades

Since then he was the first to volunteer for testing on my Lansky sharpening system
Including having different angles on the big and small blades (should have done them the other way around  ::) )

He often gets used for 'sizing' duties  :)

He has been in my pocket every day for the past two years and will be for the foreseeable future

Another Giveaway!

+B Stayglow OHO Trekker with GITD paracord lanyard and Nite-Ize #1 S-Biner.

Large enough for my big hands, but small enough that people don't squeal in fear when they see it. Stayglow yellow attracts attention, but Victorinox logo makes people feel okay. It screams "Hear I am! I have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear!". Being able to see the glow on my night stand in the wee hours of the morning makes me smile every time.

The OHO locking PE blade is easy to open and just the right size for my needs. The locking flat blade/prying tool has been very handy, especially for tightening gear hose clamps. The saw has saved me a lot of walking when I've been wandering the yard and found a branch in need of pruning - Okay, I admit to looking for excuses to use the saw, but it works so darn well! I added a micro screwdriver to the corkscrew a few weeks ago and it has been used already to tighten up my wife's sun glasses, earning me points! Having the tweezers and toothpick handy is a bonus that makes this SAK my favorite (edging out my Dual-Pro X).

Here's mine. Wenger Urban Fixer. Knife, nail file, scissors, wrench, phillips and corkscrew. Perfect urban toolset. I was toying with the idea of making PCB scales for it, even made a prototype set, but the white ones look so cool so I kept them.

@Sparky

What varnish did you use on those scales? They look awesome. :tu:

Only if you get me a Wenger Traveler and a Wenger Cyclist. :D It's a mod I did some time ago. First version included the Vic combo tool and a saw, but I like this setup better.

Victorinox Executive, with onboard pen (sleeve made from Old Chub beer can aluminum) and needle (down toothpick slot).  My EDC, has the tools I need in town - Main blade larger than Classic, secondary extra-sharp blade for minor surgeries, scissors which I use more than any other tool, all-purpose file w/ small phillips driver, "orange peeler" (caplifter when slot cut deeper), T & T.  Bought this one at the factory in Switzerland and did the mods to make it "more perfect".  Lacks only a corkscrew.

is it x-mas already?

well, mine fave is the soldier08:

why? because it is my main nourishment procurement tool. Every time I pull it out, is because I am going to eat. It is specially usefull at BBQs. need to slice a corn? no biggie with the saw. Stubborn can of beans? got that covered too. in need of a cold one and the closest opener is in the kitchen? here, use mine.
