Well, at least it's only a cosmetic problem. In time it will fix itself without any negative consequences for the usability of the tool. I've read that avoiding tool rubbing is yet another reason many knife makers add swedges. IIRC, one of the Bose guys claimed people cared less about tools rubbing together back when most knives sold were destined for very hard use, since it disappears after a while as the steel is ground down and usability isn't affected, but a e.g. collector nowadays will notice it and will be irritated. Obviously, the rubbing marks certainly aren't to everybody's taste.
Personally, for instance (too much) bladeplay is a dealbreaker, but minimal tool rubbing doesn't worry me.
