There are many things to consider when choosing a survival MT, but I would like to address one tool, the saw.  I've EDC'd a CS4 for quite a few years now and find it to be a very useful tool despite some the the Juice series' shortcomings.  The saw on the CS4 out preforms its size.  When I compared the CS4's saw to the saw on the larger Wave I got a surprise.  While the saw on the Wave is larger than the saw on the CS4, the row of saw teeth is the same length on both saws.

I don't have any experience with the saws on the other models mentioned in this thread, but I can tell  you that I can cut through a 2 3/4 inch branch with the 2 3/4 inch saw on a CS4.
That's good to know... thanks for the info.

Generally, for urban EDC, particularly on a SAK, a saw blade is useless to me.  I only find a need for one, and rarely at that, for stuff like hiking, camping, backpacking, etc.  But, I personally find the SAK saws to be the same way; they cut much better than their size would suggest.  I've made a functioning fire-bow and all the accessories with just my Swiss Champ before, so that's why I decided to go ahead and put it with my PSK.

The only reason I'd rather have a CS4 is because of the pliers.  I feel they could really be a difference-maker tool if I were lost or injured and stuck out in the woods for a night or two.  I could be wrong though; I guess it really depends on what I have with me, and the situation at the time.  Considering what I've got loaded into my PSK though, they wouldn't really be necessary.  The T&T and the pen on my Swiss Champ might be more useful in some cases.

Ugh, this is the last thing I need to do to myself right now... second-guess the gear in my PSK...     I'm using my Swiss Champ for now, and I'm sticking by that decision.  In a perfect world, I'd have BOTH the Swiss Champ and my S2, but I'm not willing to do that with my PSK so for now, it's the Swiss Champ.

You know, I was seriously considering a modded Compact as the knife to be in my PSK... I think a saw blade is all it would need to be a pretty decent little survival knife.   :tu:

I did this as a nice little back-up SAK; my Pygmy Huntsman mod (84mm).

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Very cool!  I'd honestly consider a Farmer if I could get one with scissors... but of course, that's another mod!     My Swiss Champ will have to do for now.

I really like that. Effectively a Golfer Plus I suppose.
I think adding a saw to the Compact would indeed make for an excellent back up, especially after seeing this Pygmy Huntsman

A Compact+saw was my first ever mod (known as a Huntsman Slim).  The Pygmy was just a scaled down version.

I just might have a very cool Farmer+scissors mod as well.

Well my one is by one of the old school modders; Scibeer.

However there are a few guys on the site who are making them today. :)
