Mat- the Jeep is running a standard gas powered 4.0L inline six that most Jeeps came with until a few years ago.  It's actually not as much of a pig as most people think it is, and I rarely if ever drive aggressively.  In fact, it doesn't redline until I think six or seven thousand RPM, but mine rarely goes above 2500.

Just about all the driving I do is in the city as well.  I just filled up last night- remind me next Wednesday evening and I'll fill it up again and we'll see how much it costs.  Of course, gas is expected to jump up 6.5 cents/L tomorrow, so the results will be a bit skewed.  I filled it from about a quarter tank for $63 last night.

The fuel light comes on in my diesel Focus when it drops below 100km estimated remaining... and the computer tells me it's average consumption is ~6.6L/100km. I think it's a 55 litre tank, and it cost about 62euros to fill it the last couple times, prices were at about 1.34eur/L and are now at about 1.38eur/L

Wages are frozen or being cut, taxes are going up on everything, more and more people are finding it harder to find work, and prices keep going up too... I don't exactly see this behaviour encouraging to spend...

The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Diesel here is around 1.38 euro; petrol about the same.

a few years ago it was around 0.30.. I remember, a couple of years back the terror as it was about to reach one euro...

My local JK club did a charity cruise last night. I counted 30 rigs at one point. Two of the JK8's (pick-up truck converted) showed up. Amazing that every single one is different than any other.

Ten cars are too much for me. If I have a chance to buy a dream car, I could choose only two models, Chevy Corvette and Lamborghini.

One of these...towing one of those...which is also carrying...

Custom Ford F-650

Toy Hauler Camper

Jeep Wrangler

and I would probably have to have an extra set of wheels and tires in the small size category to get the Jeep into the trailer. A minor inconvenience.

The first one on my list would be Nissan Skyline. It was the top car when I was a teenager, and I still love it. It’s simple and powerful, especially with some exclusive modifications. Recently I saw an ad featuring  in my area, and the temptation is really big. It’s the R34 version, and the coolest thing is that it is the GT-R Nismo Z-Tune limited edition, which means the car's power output is 500HP! It’s insane, and I have never seen anything like this before.
But the price is more than $300K. Not sure if I’m ready for that. Is the price adequate?

Yeah, he certainly does look at some very cool stuff!

I find myself drawn to the oddballs- much like in SAKs and multitools, the dead end designs and one offs are fascinating, and seeing features from them carried on are amazing.

I think back to the Pontiac Aztec, a wannabe tough guy minivan that is pretty well universally despised- and not without its reason.

But, it was never meant for production- it was a test bed for new features, like the insulated center console, speakers in the tailgate and the tent attachment.  They were put into an outlandish looking vehicle to get attention at car shows like SEMA, and it worked.  Unfortunately someone misread the interest and decided to put the Aztec (which should have been called the Abomination) into production thinking it would be successful.

It wasn't, of course, as we all know, but mark my words, like the Leatherman Flair they will be prized by collectors someday.  And, even cooler, we have insulated center consoles, tailgate speakers and tents that attach to SUV's and minivans, and we have the Aztec to thank for it.

$40 for gas is awesome.  Our HRV is not too bad on gas and 40 would do well in the tank.  We're getting 30+ mile per gallon which is not bad at all.

I like the Cherokee with the wood panels.  Late 80s I think.  I also really liked the Suzuki Samurai.  How about the Chrysler LeBaron convertible with wood?

Do you remember the Suburi BRAT?  I loved that car when I first saw it.

The Brat was cool, and a neat lesson how petty governments can be.   :D

Basically the Japanese put a tariff on US chickens so the US fought back by putting a tariff on Japanese pickup trucks.  In response, Subaru put seats in the back and created a leisure vehicle instead of a pickup truck, and therefore not subject to tariffs.

We went all electric some time ago. A common trip that used to cost us about USD 50 in gasoline now costs us USD 2.5 instead. That difference adds up over time.

BRATs and Samurais have a really nasty way of turning into ferric oxide in my neck of the woods. XJ Cherokees are the same way. But some dude in my neighborhood drives one of those Chrysler Le Baron convertibles covered with fake wood pretty regularly.

My ten car garage is something that's in constant flux. Right now most of it would be filled by Jeeps made before 1972.

I am seriously considering it- I likely would have done it by now, but there just aren't a lot of affordable electric options here.  Or even un-affordable ones.  I waited about two months for the most affordable electric car here before determining that it absolutely didn't meet my needs and I had to cancel.  And that was almost $50k CDN.  Sadly, for my property and my lifestyle I require a truck of some sort, and electric trucks are about $100k and more here.

But then, ICE trucks are $70k and so not significantly cheaper.
