Why can't I find a RED 91mm "Plus" Scale?
on: January 01, 2013, 12:59:25 AM
 :climber:

I LOVE my SAK's.  I'm a student, and I'm an activist (I regularly prune low branches with my SAK).  As a student, I often need a pen.  I just found out about the "plus" scales, and I keep trying to find them, but I haven't been able to find any.  All eBay sales are sold out, the official stores

Anybody know where I can find them?

I've been able to modify one to accept the pen, but it's not the same thing (and I'm worried about the pen being too loose.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, a hammer, a screwdriver, bailing wire, zipties, or a Swiss Army Knife, it's broken and irreparable.

I find the pen on the 58mm Victorinox (Classic size) easier to write with, by the way.

Quick question, are these scales Victorinox products, or some kind of "Fan" made product?  I've seen photos (eBay) that made me a little curious.

They're Victorinox products. They come standard on many knife models, but some licensed dealers (including eBay dealers) will put them on any 91mm knife for you for a small fee.

I went to eBay and used this search string "Victorinox 91mm Knife Red Scale plus"

I only find the transparent "Ruby Red" scales, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Ive got 3 sets (and 5 more in the mail) of take off plus standard red scales from compact donors I bought.  Complete with all the accessories (pen, pin, corkscrew driver, T&T).  If you cant find any elsewhere PM me if interested.

I know the ruby red ones are way more common for some reason, I see less of the standard red.  Even most of the swiss champ and compact donors I bought before all came with the ruby plus.

Cheers
